Bill knew THE BEATLES during their 1964 North American Tour. Mal Evans introduced Bill to Ringo then Ringo to the others. Bill was able to imitate quite ALL Beatles voices and had a "slight similiar" Paul look. Bill was a great Beatle fan. Mal Evans was the only person of the Beatles entourage that was present during Bill marriage with Linda in 1969.

Hey, guys, I know you don't know me and I don't believe 60IF or any of Andrew's photographic "proof," but I have to point out that this has been confirmed by the author of the book: Billy Shepherd is an alias in this case for British reporter Peter Jones because it sounded like a more natural name for someone researching "frivolous" music.

It doesn't seem likely it's the same William Sheppard.
From 60IF: "...When we had all but given up the right man was found. His name was William Sheppard and he was with the Canadian Military Police."
They had been looking for a long time before they found William. Does this sound like someone who had been in the Beatles circles for awhile?

Darkhorse and I both have good points, except that Darkhorse's is clouded by conspiracy while mine is more open-minded. No offense to Darkhorse, of course.

Let me get this straight, Darkhorse is less open minded because he KEEPS MORE OPTIONS OPEN? You don't seem to be open to the idea of a conspiracy at all. You are going to truly crazy and illogical lengths to avoid the idea of a conspiracy which would be much simpler and more realistic in real life.
You admit (you aren't offering another explanation) that the comparisons are accurate and that the eyes ARE closer together, and instead of explaining it away as lens distortion (which it is not, since all photos have been checked against many others from different years, lenses and areas of the lens) you insist that his eyes simply moved closer together, even though this is illogical and impossible, which I keep trying to explain to you. And you are supposed to be more open minded than all of us. Amazing.

Forgive me if this is old news. I'm pretty excited. After finally getting around to reading #9's post, I decided to search the web to see if I could buy a copy of the book somewhere and stumbled across this: There was a band in the early 60's called Billy Pepper and the Pepper Pots who played Beatle songs on an album called "Merseyside" (in the UK) and "Liverpool Beats" (in the US). One of the band members' names is Billy Shepherd. They say the band disappeared without a trace afterwards. Here's the link to the vintage music group posting I found and you should be able to find the other group postings on this band. groups.google.com/groups?q=billy+pepper+and+the+pepperpots&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=fh8y3.7852%24ei1.15862%40newsfeeds.bigpond.com&rnum=1and here is a link to photos on the album. The cover is supposed to have one big photo, but I haven't been able to track it down. The photos aren't very clear, but can anyone spot a possible pre-plastic surgery "Sgt. Billy Pepper"? www.franklarosa.com/vinyl/BigImg/beats.jpg

That's very, very interesting... although none of the men on that album cover really resemble William as he appeared on the White Album poster. It's hard to make them out though, since it's aged and they're already obscured in shadows. Perhaps Faul was in a Beatles cover band before "becoming" Paul for real?

Right. It's a possibility. I think they made the album in '63, so that would be before plastic surgery to make him look more like Paul. Wish I had better pictures.
Still, the name William Shepherd, or Sheppard, etc. keeps popping up in connection with the Beatles. Who the heck IS this guy?

ALBUM: 1 MORE MERSEYMANIA (Allegro ALL 699) 1964
This cash-in album, includes covers of The Beatles' Please Please Me and She Loves You, as well as originals by Bill Shephard and Jimmy Fraser. It's not clear whether it was the work of a genuine band, or session men, nor whether the band were 'UK' or otherwise.
The liner notes to the album, make reference to this album being the second in a series (the first being Merseymania), and as far as we can tell Allegro was a UK label.
