I was watching this tape I have called "The Magic Years", a bio of Queen that is dated 1987, so the interview was maybe in 1986. I captured this one minute clip and shrunk it down to 2.2 MB. (realvideo format) What's ironic is that Faul mentions how Freddie's voice has never changed! Wonder why that idea popped into his head? But what made me chuckle is the Queen song they are playing while Faul is talking. Download the clip and you'll see what I mean... Oh btw, Faul is playing with his ear as usual. home.comcast.net/~zezinho/faulonfreddie.html

HILARIOUS! Props to whoever put together that documentary-- it sure seems intentional! ;D

That was hilarious. Did Paul ever play with his ear like that during interviews, or is that purely a Faul mannerism?

Bumping up just in case anyone missed it, and it needs a new link as well:

Btw, listening to some of Bill's mid eighties material, I swear I hear some of Brian May's distinctive guitar.. I could be wrong, and I'll try to track down which tracks they are. I remember elsewhere in this documentary where Brian's father mentions something to the effect that he could always tell when his son played on other's recordings.

isn't it true that brian may's father made/makes brian's guitars himself?

Yes that's correct, that's the scene I was talking about where he and his dad are talking about that. He even used a knitting needle as a lever to control the sound. (In some way, I don't remember the details) So, that guitar is pretty distinctive, not to mention his style in general.
