Good for him! (Just my opinion.) Go Faul Go! Yeh, I know he's not JPM, and that's a very sad reality, but he's paid his dues, and his heart's in the right place. If they can keep it from being too hokey, and pull it off with some CLASS (Oh, PLEASE GOD, let them do it with some class!) they could really "Hit one out of the park!" God bless them.

pretty interesting... they're going to do Sgt Pepper with Bono from U2 and other people joining Faul onstage in colorful military-style "Pepper" outfits...

And since this will presumably be the closing number, let's take a look at it. The Long And Winding Road THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD THAT LEADS TO YOUR DOOR WILL NEVER DISAPPEAR I´VE SEEN THAT ROAD BEFORE IT ALWAYS LEADS ME HERE LEAD ME TO YOUR DOOR THE WILD AND WINDY NIGHT THAT THE RAIN WASHED AWAY HAS LEFT A POOL OF TEARS CRYING FOR THE DAY WHY LEAVE ME STANDING HERE LET ME KNOW THE WAY MANY TIMES I´VE BEEN ALONE AND MANY TIMES I´VE CRIED ANYWAY YOU´LL NEVER KNOW THE MANY WAYS I´VE TRIED BUT STILL THEY LEAD ME BACK TO THE LONG WINDING ROAD YOU LEFT ME STANDING HERE A LONG LONG TIME AGO DON´T LEAVE ME WAITING HERE LEAD ME TO YOUR DOOR BUT STILL THEY LEAD ME BACK TO THE LONG WINDING ROAD YOU LEFT ME STANDING HERE A LONG LONG TIME AGO DON´T KEEP ME WAITING HERE LEAD ME TO YOUR DOOR This song is about re-incarnation, and the many attempts of this person to gain access to the heavenly kingdom. The second verse is his most recent "life". "The many ways (he's) tried" are the many different lives he's lived. His lives have always brought him to this spot: the long and winding road that leads to 'your' door. "I've seen that road before", he says. "You left me standing here a long long time ago." A long long time ago. "Though she was born a long long time ago your mother should know." "When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me". A long long time ago. "In the beginning, I misunderstood" sings John in "The Word". "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth." A long long time ago. "Don't leave me waiting here, (on the road that will never disappear) lead me to your door!" This could be interesting! I mean, of course it will be the closing number! And Sgt. Pepper will be the opening act. You know, the ACT YOU"VE KNOWN FOR ALL THESE YEARS. An act you've known for a long long time.

(Claudio Baglioni -on the left- and "Baglioncino" -on the right-) Geoffrey William Shepherd will not the only one replacement at Live8... In the italian section of Live8 there will be "Baglioncino" the man who replaced Claudio Baglioni since 1990. Claudio Baglioni WAS the singer who sold most records in Italy. His story is really similiar to that "Paul Is Dead" "Baglioncino" is smaller with smaller nose and eyes and a wider chin and jawbone but he is a good voice imitator....

Incredible how these people seem to come and go. There must be more to this picture than meets the eye. BeatlePaul, do the Italians know that there's an imitator, or is it like "Paul Is Dead" where they think he's the real one?

BeatlePaul, do the Italians know that there's an imitator, or is it like "Paul Is Dead" where they think he's the real one? This time WE are DIRECT witnesses because we worked wth the TRUE Claudio. So we know and remember Claudio real features. Sadly people don't know ...brainwashed by the media and by the hope it never happened. But starting with 1990 MANY (like us) has left to follow "his" work ... "Baglioncino" has put many clues on his songs too.... This case is on since 2 years ago at: forum.onecenter.com/cgi-bin/forum/forum.cgi?c=msg&fid=pid60if_it&mid=19

Whoa! Claudio Baglioni seems to have a long (in compariison) nose and close set eyes, than "?", who has wider eyes and a shorter (in comparison) nose.

Well, that was good to watch. Faul did a good performance. I didn't expect to see him do Get Back, then Drive My Car, then Helter Skelter, then The Long And Winding Road and then Hey Jude. I really enjoyed it. Sgt. Pepper was good too but unfortunately he didn't wear the Pepper suit. But other guys did.

FAUL did a great performance.
I'd never had a chance to see Pink Floyd, and they blew me away. Everyone's performances were great. What an awesome day! And didn't you just have to laugh when the MTV/VH1 guy told Faul about going past the Old Navy(?) store and seeing the plaque stating that the Beatles had done their first (78 rpm) recording there, and so Faul said, "Oh, and it's an Old Navy store now. Hmmmm." ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It was news to him.

Forever. You all have seen the show: THE BEATLES were OTHERS from him. Have you understood his message?

What a great day it was, so many performances that blew me away.
I'll write a complete review later but here are some things I noticed.
-Bono and several reporters during the day mentioned that this was the first time ever Beatle Bill performed Sgt Pepper live...LIE
-in a backstage interview Bill was asked the question if his kids had persuaded him to perform again like they did in 85. He got totally defensive and said that also in 85 HE made the decision to play HIMSELF. Funny how he continually rewrites history to take all the credit.
-In their amazing set U2 included a snippet of Blackbird at the end of Beautiful Day, they have done that more on their current tour. Makes ya wonder.
-Helter Skelter and Hey Jude and also the rest of Bill's surprisingly long set are great food for symbolism junkies, a mass initiation.
In short my highlights were Bill,U2,Elton John (The Bitch is back lol),R.E.M,Annie Lennox,Madonna.Robbie Williams,The Who and The Pink Floyd wow what a day, and luckily I got to see it all on the BBC.
I hope all you American friends will get to see the complete footage soon.
It also blew me away that the Floyd played Wish You Were Here, that song ( album) was released on my birthday September 15 1975. I always consider that as a goodluck sign.

What a great day it was, so many performances that blew me away.... It also blew me away that the Floyd played Wish You Were Here... Wish WHO was there? (My inner Apollo coming through. ;D) Yes, I know they meant Syd Barrett. Maybe someone else too. A "dig" perhaps, at someone who was there? (It's fun to be 'Fapollo', but I'd best be careful lest I too be struck by lightning, 'tho that usually comes 'threw' with Thor.) "So! So you think you can tell..." (Faul from Paul)

And of course the Floyd ended their set with Comfortably Numb. Drug yourself up and forget about what is really going on.
The whole Wall concept with a singer replaced by a fake is so PID imo.

The whole Wall concept with a singer replaced by a fake is so PID imo. Is that what that album was about?! I don't have the album, so I never knew! Wish You Were Here So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears, wish you were here. And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? A reference to John Lennon! Second verse is about John Lennon! No wait. Paul! (Does anybody know if Paul had a walk-on part in "How I Won the War?") And the first verse about Paul somehow? "A cold steel rail" a prison bar? "A green field": Paul's love of nature? "Blue skys from pain": Paul's 'vacation' and freedom vs hose beating mentioned in Monkberry Moon Delight. "A smile from a veil" Sylvie from Fylvie! (Whoa, Apollo, you're good!)

The Wall isn't literally about a Rockstar being replaced but it is all there in a metaphoric way, and IMO all Floyd's stuff since 67 is influenced by PID, which in a lot of instances is the same story as the descent into madness of Syd Barrett.
The story is about a rockstar named Pink (in the movie appropriately played by Bob Geldof) who suffered a lot of trauma from his mother, teachers, women, success and finally goes crazy. He trashes his hotelroom and shaves of all his hair including his eyebrows.
When his crew find him totally wasted and unconscious, the doctor gives him drugs to get on his feet to play the concert that night. That's where Comfortably Numb plays.
On his way to the concert the crew have to keep him on his feet and Pink has visions of worms. At the concert he has turned into a sort of fascist dictator and the whole entourage seems like a Nazi-conference with lots of guards dressed in black, he sings this song:
"In the Flesh
So ya Thought ya Might like to go to the show To feel the warm thrill of confusion That space cadet glow I've got some bad news for you sunshine Pink isn't well he stayed back at the hotel And they sent us along as a surrogate band And we're going to find out where you fans Really stand Are there any queers in the theatre tonight Get 'em up against the wall That one looks Jewish And that one's a coon Who let all this riff raff into the room There's one smoking a joint and Another with spots If I had my way I'd have all of you shot"
So it is not literally about Bill but the term "surrogate band" really connects it to PID for me.
In a way I see the PID story also as a reflection how most people lose themselves when they grow up and trade in all their dreams for a piece of the pie, becoming a part of the machinery instead of becoming a loving human being.
In a way all stories are the same story, we have lost ourselves and become our shadow , and now it's time to find the way back home by following the trail of breadcrumbs (clues).
All Love Jan

With apologies to Valis, here's the imagery I was getting prior to his post: So Syd and Paul are the two lost souls? And Syd got electro-shock therapy, and.... and so did Paul? But Paul's was "all natural"? (Or was it?) I didn't really want to know that. Oh well. Valis, THAT'S AWESOME! Obviously where singer "PINK" got her name, for starters. "Pink has visions of worms." (The worms crawl in, The worms crawl out...a premonition of being DEAD) "The story is about a rockstar named Pink (in the movie appropriately played by Bob Geldof)" "who suffered a lot of trauma from his mother, teachers, women," "I used to be cruel to my woman; I beat her..." "the teachers that taught me weren't cool" "back in school again Maxwell plays the fool again teacher gets annoyed" success and finally goes crazy. He trashes his hotelroom and shaves of all his hair including his eyebrows. Analogous to "You were in a car crash, and you lost your hair" possibly. And he'd look like the women in the Robert ("Searching for Clues") Palmer video. And the "In the Flesh" lyrics: a contrast of disposition of Paul before and after? Is that why "Major McCartney" in MMT? Just thinking.

Here is the first version of "In the Flesh "which opens LP/CD 1, the version I posted earlier is halfway on disc 2.
"In the Flesh
So ya Thought ya Might like to go to the show To feel the warm thrill of confusion That space cadet glow Tell me is something eluding you sunshine? Is this not what you expected to see? If you'd like to find out what's behind these cold eyes? You'll just have to claw your way through the Disguise"

All you've got to do, is learn how to play the game. It's easy.
