Sorry YS2. Perhaps you weren't replying to me when you said "not exactly DNA but.." I had suggested someone attend a function where Mike and Faul are both present and pocket their glasses, silverware, etc. There would be saliva containing their DNA on those things. gotcha no, I was just thinking out loud! I meant that fingerprints weren't exactly dna.

No, fingerprints aren't DNA. However, if the fingerprints don't match & the DNA doesn't match either, I think it's pretty much proven that he IS indeed a different person.

As far as I know he only produced that for Mary Hopkins who he signed to Apple (1969?). The song I'm thinking about was pre-66. I'm sure its mentioned in one of the Anthology DVDs. Speaking of Mary Hopkins.. Thought someone here might enjoy this: home.comcast.net/~georges25/QuelliEranoGiomi.mp3

No that is truly fascinating. She sings Italian quite well, doesn't she?
Also does anyone know what blood type either of them are/were? Type o+ is the most common. What if when of them is something unusual?

Even though "Quelli eran giorni" ("Those were the days") is in Italian. My cousin has an old single (1968 or 1969, I think) of Mary called "Lontano dagli occhi" (in Italian as well). Her voice is perfect!!!

I think you talk about "Woman". The song was recorded in 1966 by Peter and Gordon and the name Paul used was Bernard Webb.

You're right, Michelle. Peter Asher was Jane's brother and he wrote the song for Peter and Gordon under the alias of Bernard Webb because he didn't want the song to sell just because Paul McCartney wrote it.

I was reading a timeline on a Beatles site and I found this:
"22 january 1970 Paul, using the pseudonym Billy Martin, starts recording his first solo album “McCartney” at Abbey Road."
Billy Martin, interesting name.

Good find, Michelle! Billy, huh? Not a psuedoname, but his real first name and maybe Martin was something he could actually remember, and not too far off the name McCartney.

Or - it could be that Martin was in honor of his pal & mentor, Sir George MARTIN !

According to the book I've got, McCartney's first solo album was recorded using state of the art home recording equipment at his farm in Scotland when he was trying to get away from it all. You can hear kids playing at one point on one of the tracks. I've never heard about Abbey Rd being used for it before. Maybe it was mixed there?

It was done at the farm when Bill was feeling depressed about the end of The Beatles. After feeling sorry for himself, he started making the McCartney album. It was probably mixed and finished at the Abbey Rd studio.
When I first heard it, I was disappointed. 'Lovely Linda' was repeating two short sentences. At the time not knowing that Paul had been replaced, I wondered what had happened to his talent and writing abilities. There are one or two good cuts, but the rest qualifies as junk. Also I was disappointed that he had married such a skank.

I think it's a grower. I was disappointed when I first heard it too, but there's a few classics on it, such as (ironically) Junk, Maybe I'm Amazed and Everynight. I also like the instrumentals. Must say, I find Ram to be much more impressive, and I think it's one of the most under rated Beatle products of all time.

I liked Ram also. I think he has been helped by some of the greatest musicians & song composers of all time. He is one VERY lucky SOB ! ;D
