Welcome trj22487, Thank you for your detailed photo compilation. If Faul's first musical duty was The Family Way do you think George Martin was aware of the situation or do you think they thought that if Faul could fool George Martin he could fool the public? When and where do you think Paul died and who do you think the replacement was?

Not sure I buy into the theory that Epstein was replaced, there would have been no need. They may not have anticipated his death, though I believe that may have been engineered, but certainly his power over the band had been usurped by the time of his death. Not sure Iamaphoney will provide any answers next year either.

Let us discuss what you are saying. You seem to be taking 60if as an absolutely accurate record of events. In my opinion it is not.
Firstly, Brian Epstein did smoke, the following is a quote from Derek Taylor about Epstein; ‘A very soft appearance, he didn’t look as though he did any ex¬ercise, but then a lot of people didn’t then. I certainly didn’t do any, and I was very thin. Cigarette smoking, so was he, nervy. Very well dressed, very good suit, lovely shirt: these were what made people different. The detail.’ Also, after Epstein’s death Alistair Taylor recounted a tale of searching his bedroom for anything incriminating and removing a joint.
Secondly, although Epstein did manage other artists such as Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Billy J Kramer, he did not manage Eric Clapton or Cream. They were managed by Robert Stigwood whose organisation did merge with NEMS in January 1967. According to 60if Epstein would have been dead by this point. Why then would the replacement Epstein have entered into a merger with a near bankrupt impresario? You could argue that the replacement wasn’t up to the job and needed some assistance, however it was the Beatles themselves who vetoed this idea stating that they would only be managed by Epstein.
Robert Stigwood is someone who deserves greater examination as part of this mystery. As manager of the Bee Gees, who were produced by one Bill Shepherd, he could be responsible for introducing this particular name to the mystery.
As for Epstein being the biggest success of that time, I am not so sure. The Beatles were undeniably massive but none of his other artists enjoyed the same level of fame. By 1966 he had been blackmailed by his lover Dizz Gillespie, doubts were being raised over the quality of some of the deals he was doing, he was consuming massive amounts of drugs, he had run up enormous gambling debts and Stigwood was after taking control of NEMS and the Beatles. Add to this the arrival on the scene of outside influences on the Beatles such as Robert Fraser and the Indica crowd and you have a portrait of a man who is losing control.
Investigate the death of Epstein’s business lawyer, David Jacobs, and you begin to get a glimpse of what really may have been going on. Jacobs was found dead in his garage in an apparent suicide. However, it has since been argued that Jacobs was murdered by the London villains, the Kray twins, for refusing to represent them. Epstein regularly gambled at the Krays casinos and was heavily in debt to them.
60if is a useful jumping off point, good for engaging discussion, but unless someone can provide solid proof of any of its claims then it should only be seen as a story. We should be investigating the mystery in its entirety and wary of jumping to conclusions without concrete evidence.
