As it turns out, Faul said in Anthology that, in all the years he'd been with her, they'd never had sex. Obviously, this means Paul and Jane probably buggered each other eyes' out and she suddenly became chaste when Faul popped up. He was very unlucky in all matters of getting the girl.

I did some checking and according to what I'd heard, he never said that. Doesn't look like something he would say!
