This may lead nowhere, but I thought I'd bring it out anyway....
Apparently if you take an old British edition vinyl copy of Dylan's "John Wesley Harding" ('68) and turn it upside down, you can clearly see the faces of the Beatles in the tree, just above the LE in WESLEY. As well there is supposedly another unidentified face above the H in JOHN.
There is some contention on this, but those who claim to see it state that it is very clear, which leads me to suppose it is necessary to have an old British edition (early 70s or earlier).
Dylan's friendship with the Beatles is well known, and Dylan himself indicated that JWH was intended as a sort of an "anti-Sgt. Pepper" album.
I'm sure if the Paul theory is true than many others within the musical community would be in the know.
