I am sure this has probably been posted before. But I was just wondering if anyone had any comments from Lennon about this song, I mean, why exactly did he write it because it basically spills the beans.
So sgt. pepper took you by surprise you better see right through that mother's eyes those freaks was right when they said you was you was dead the one mistake you made was in your head
how do you sleep? ah how do you sleep at night?
you live with straights who tell you you was king jump when your mamma tell you anything the only thing you done was yesterday and since you've gone it's just another day
how do you sleep? ah how do you sleep at night?
a pretty face may last a year or two
(reference to plastic surgery? more support to my theory that Paul and John had a sexual relationship?)
but pretty soon they'll see what you can do the sound you make is muzak to my ears you must have learned something all those years
how do you sleep? ah how do you sleep at night?

I think that when John wrote that song, he was obviously feeling annoyed at Bill. To me, this song displays John's true feelings towards Bill. The one line I don't understand in that song is "the only thing you done was yesterday." Didn't Paul write Yesterday?

John wrote this to mess with the listeners heads again.
Remember the famous line? "The Walrus was Paul"
"Those freaks were right when they said you were dead"
I think its John messing with your mind again
