According to most sources, Paul was supposed to have been replaced sometime in the fall of 1966. This was after the release of Revolver. So, why would clues have appeared in that album and the ones before it? Unless the others knew it was coming and Paul did not, or perhaps Paul knew but was powerless?

As far as I know, there were no real clues about Paul's death until after Revolver.

Paul knew about it. Heck the press knew about. In the 1966 LA press conference, they asked him about the speculations that he would be replaced.
As far as Revolver. Dr. Robert pretty much says it all.

Dr. Robert pretty much says it all. I don't know if Paul knew about it or not, so I'm not going to say anything about that, but I do agree with the "Dr. Robert" saying it all senario. Now I know that "A Day in the Life" isn't on Revolver, but I believe that that song says it all as well.

Here's a weird one? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dja-HgLzE9oLook at how awkward Faul is behaving in the second part of this film (from 4.12 onwards). His only fact seems to be what George Martin has already described and passes the questioning about Tomorrow Never Knows over to George. Like he wasn't there at the time or something? "John just had a song." errrr? Mind you. Ringo doesn't seem to have much to offer.

Listen to The Beatles BBC sessions I heard that Ringo wrote Don't Pass me By before 1966, but it didn't fit in with the early material, as was the case with One after 909. I thought Drive My Car, didn't refer to the crash but showed Paul's preference to not driving himself unless he had to.
