Why would JP get plastic surgery to look uglier?

I mean, really, when you think about it, it doesn't make much sense at all (unless he was pressured so that the Beatles could leave behind their "boyish" beginnings, but I'm just playing devil's advocate :

Anyone agree with me (that surgery for JP would have been unnecessary)?
