I read that.
Hmmmm.
Did any of you know that the Beatles were scheduled to be on the Ed Sullivan Show in September of 1966?
I didn't know it either, until I found out about Ringo's orphaned drum set.
The drum set that the Beatles used in America, the one they sent around from city to city on tour. It was used on Aug 29 at the last concert, in San Fransisco.
Now, I have to research this a little; I got the story incompletely and the person who shared it to me forgot certain details.
The day after Candlestick Park, it was packaged and shipped to a storage provider in New York City, in anticipation of an upcoming appearance on Sullivan.
It sat in this place for at least one year.
No one ever claimed it; no one ever called for it. The manager, sick of it taking up space for so long, gave it to somebody for free. "Just get it out of here, take it off our hands.", he said.
The set is exibited at drum symposiums from time to time. With the back story made clear.
When asked why they never made the appearance? The answer?
Brian Epstein died.
But that was a year later-------wasn't it?
Even so------Sullivan did not generally book that far in advance. 1967 is a stretch. Why wait so long? And they were thinking about stopping performing? But they accepted Sullivan and shipped some equipment.....
Also, it makes no sense to ship something priority in order to hold it in storage for a year. Especially since the people keeping it were told it would only be there for a few days! Then it would be called for to go to the Ed Sullivan studio..........but Brian died so they didn't need it. So they waited a year to call. Actually, no one ever called. The people at Manny's were tired of it taking up space.
I have never seen this referenced in any literature about the Beatles.
But, this drum set has been displayed at NAMM and other such type music conventions.
This also means------that the Beatles next intended performance destination-----was New York City, NOT London.
They didn't fly home to London only to have to come right back. I presune they went to Los Angeles to hang out. The point is, from this, they were looking forward to doing Sullivan soon.
Which means, if logic serves, that if Paul was killed, he probably NEVER made it home to England.
You say, "Oh, I bet they went home to rest up first, planning to go back."
No.
No, you see, everybody would have known that they were going back to America, and that they were returning to Sullivan.
Nobody knew this.
The set would have never been shipped ahead to NYC if they didn't think that they were going to need it in New York soon. If there was a problem, they would NOT have sent it.
I suppose this is from the season opener of Sullivan that year:

The Debut of the Muppets. As a one puppet rock'nroll band.
Also, anybody know, when did John start filming HIWTWar?
Can't be in two places at one time..........
Chaotic scheduling to say the least. I hoax you not.
