Here is a picture scanned from the Albert Goldman book "The Lives of John Lennon. I know that book got a lot of people upset at the time, because it was seen as just digging up all the dirt possible and throwing it all together in one book. I don't know, I took it out from the library a couple of days ago, and yes it gets right into the dirt. Second hand gossip from disgruntled employees it would seem. Anyhow, the reason I posted this picture was because here is a picture of Faul in the group, but Jane Asher is sitting next to him. Interesting, the caption says she is "skeptical", but to me she looks like she is very unhappy about where she is sitting! Notice the body language, her knees are pointing away from Faul.

I have that picture ! Is that Jane Asher ? Interpreting pics is very subjective I realize , but I thought she was displaying disdain for the "Mary Hootchie " or whatever he calls himself . The look on her face in my locale usually means "f#ck this son of a b#tch !

Get out your magnifying glasses and tell me what that is looking thru the window. It suggests a grim reaper -deaths head to me !

excellent, JoJo!! I haven't studied body language (there are some here who have)...but IMO you are right on the money...she is physically turning herself "away" from Faul...

Get out your magnifying glasses and tell me what that is looking thru the window. It suggests a grim reaper -deaths head to me ! There is a vase of flowers above Pauls head in the book picture. The "reaper" is trimmed out of the book version. Jane is leaning towards paul in this pic and is holding interlocked hands with faul.

I could rescan that part of the picture with the "bogie" in the window, but it wouldn't be any help, it's not any clearer in the book even close up. I don't need a magnifying glass, much like John Lennon, everything past 1 foot is a blur without glasses. The up side is being able to see the most minute detail in objects close up without glasses. About the pic, yes it's hard to interpret what people are feeling or thinking. It just seems she is putting an invisible wall between herself and Faul. That looks like her own hand on her knee, looks like Faul is keeping to his own personal space as well.

My book picture isnt the exact same one as the posted one. It may have been taken 5 seconds or so later. John is absorbed with the Indian guy in mine and the person standing behind Faul has moved from view. And Faul and Jane are holding hands very clearly in this pic.

That is not a photo. It's a frame. In the sequence Jane ironically smiles to the camera. A "must".

Not to be rude, but the Maharishi would be looking up Jane's skirt if her knees weren't locked. Faul might be holding them in place! (Faul looking more like Elvis than Paul here.)

Body Language and non-verbal communication is a fascinating subject. Kent State actually taught a class in it, and I did my term paper observing students and how they sat in the massive student center. The bottom line is, everything we do communicates and sends a signal as to our feelings and thoughts. Even the size of your pupils when you look at someone tells if you like them, or find them pleasing to look at. When we like something or someone, the pupil dialates, opening up to literally take in more of the view!
