When you're listening late at night you might think the band is not quite right...

If all these songs weren't about Paul then the music's actually kinda shallow and meaningless. Just saying because the songs would no longer mean anything if that factor wasn't there

I don't think that the songs would be shallow and meaningless at all. I hate it when people always read all these deep intellectual meanings and undertones into things. It drives me insane to hear people ranting about a loss of innocence, and all that. Not everything has to be about some deep concept that only a certain few can figure out. I think that if Paul really is dead (which I have no doubt about) all of the clues that are written in the Beatles later work are the undercurrent of the songs. They are that underlying concept that literary people find in all novels, and poetry, and music. They are there, and they shape the music, but they aren't the music. Music has the meaning that you give to it. One person interprets a song one way, and another person interprets it in another. That is what gives a song meaning. So even if Paul wasn't dead, I think that the Beatles songs would still be wonderful and meaningful, and they would still be as popular as they are today because they sing about things that everyone can relate to. They sing about things that people experience, and through that the songs gain meaning. And even the weird songs (Like I Am The Walrus, my personal favorite Beatles song) are so well written and catchy that even if you have no clue what they're talking about you still can't help but sing along and enjoy them.
Now I hope that this all makes as much sense as it made in my mind. It's about 1:30 in the morning, and I'm not at my best. So I hope that this is coherent in some way, shape, or form.

Music has the meaning that you give to it. One person interprets a song one way, and another person interprets it in another. That is what gives a song meaning. Right. A song is only as deep or shallow as the person performing it. I never really thought of the Beatles' music in those terms anyway. It's just great music and that's all that matters.
