what would music [and the world] be like if none of this insanity ever happened....if paul lived and thrived and the beatles carried on into the 70's and 80's? i think there are a lot of WHAT IFs to ponder there!

Wow. That's an interesting question. My first thought was that John would still have split for Yoko, but then, if she was part of the conspiracy.... And would they have been worked like dogs (as, apparently, was what was happening) 'til they burned out? Would they have been "stuck in the '60's" like the Beach Boys? I think Paul would still have opted for a quieter existence in the country, even if he still performed with the band. I think they might just have slowly faded out like the Moody Blues, whose material now is "OK" but not great as it once was. But John would still have been an outspoken proponent of social justice and the cause of peace. One thing for sure: There would have been an unbelievable catalogue of really catchy tunes that would never get old. That's my initial response.

I believe, that John changed into an ambitious political critic after Pauls death. He then realised that there were some puppet-players behind the scene that really pull the strings in every direction they want to - regardless if there were some obstacles (in this case The Beatles) in their way or not - and that made him very angry. I don't know what would have happened if Paul wasn't killed. Maybe John would not have been so dedicated to fight against the dark side of the coin and would have been easier to 'handle' by the mainstream brainwashing surroundings. Maybe Yoko wasn't then necessery at all to influence him. Yes, this are interesting points - but we all live in infinite realities and i bet, that those realities exist parallel to ours.
