Artificial Energy (Hillman/McGuinn(Clarke)
Sittin´ all alone now, I took my ticket to ride
Just a matter of time now till I´ll be up in the sky
Coming up on me now, I´m king for the night
What´s it gonna be now,
how hurtful things are brewing inside
Do you think it´s really the truth that you see?
I´ve got my doubts, it´s happened to me
Artificial energy is wrestling my mind
I´ve got a strange feeling
I´m going to die before my time
I´m coming down off amphetamine
and I´m in jail `cause I killed a queen
This song is interesting for many reasons but it starts with the ticket to ride thing and ends with the dying before my time thing. This came out in 1968 off "Notorious Byrd Brothers". Also what's up with that killing a queen thing? The track listing itself is intriguing:
1. Artificial Energy
2. Goin´ Back
3. Natural Harmony
4. Draft Morning
5. Wasn´t Born To Follow
6. Get To You
7. Change Is Now
8. Old John Robertson
9. Tribal Gathering
10. Dolphin´s Smile
11. Space Odyssey
12. Triad
Pretty heavy stuff eh? Faul brought his [glow=red,2,300]Artificial Energy[/glow]to the group but[glow=red,2,300]Goin' Back[/glow] we can hear James Paul's[glow=red,2,300]Natural Harmony[/glow]. After the [glow=red,2,300]Draft Morning[/glow]it was clear Faul[glow=red,2,300]Wasn´t Born To Follow[/glow]but they found a way to [glow=red,2,300]Get To You [/glow]so you wouldn't notice the [glow=red,2,300]Change Is Now[/glow]...it's late and I'm going to need to think about the rest. Anybody else have any thoughts?
The album cover is odd too. Notice the dark horse.
Their previous album from 1967 has them pictured with ghostly doubles on the cover.
They have doubles on this cover too...
