There was a documentary called "Legends - Paul McCartney" on just the other day. Here are a few thoughts and observations. First of all, Faul made a huge gaff. When he was talking about his (meaning Paul's) first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in early 64 he said that he sung "Yesterday" to a string quartet! That song wasn't on the program - it wasn't even written until 65! I think he gaffs deliberately just to see if anyone would notice - noone could be that dumb, could they? He talked a bit about John and claimed that there had been a bit of revisionist history since his death, that John had been labelled the "working class hero" whereas in fact John was brought up in a middle-class home (they showed a picture to prove it) and it was Paul that lived in a succession of council flats. This may in fact be true - can someone clue us in? He also said that he was really the driving force behind The Beatles in their early years, the ambitious one rather than John who was proably more content to just sit back and play. He also mentioned that he was the one who got the idea and did the backward tape looping on "Tomorrow Never Knows" We know that Faul didn't really do these things (he hadn't even been "invented" then) but were these things actually true about Paul? Or is Faul doing his own revisionist history to make himself look good?

its funny because i have a video of a two hour interview he gave to a british tv channel about 2 years ago and he was bragging about his middle class upbringing and how John really was a working class hero... I will dig out the video and report back with more details

If these interviews are true, then it would seem that Faul does not even know what he is saying. Another clue for you all!

Paul Bearer,
Great Post! Keep-up that kind of evidence and you may just convince me of all this. "Faul" committed another chronological error in an 80's Playboy interview which was documented on the old board. Well done!

John was always thankful publicly to his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George for giving him a good middle class home. He never claimed to have come from a ghetto enviorment. As far as being a driving force, I hear much more of John's touch in the band's early recordings. Why can't Paul be satisfied with his legacy as a part of the finest musical group of the century? He is also one of the richest entertainers in the world, and has a new wife and a child on the way. Why put down an ex-friend and partner who has been dead for 20 years? That is really low class, and I don't care what size home he grew up in.

This is what we called ARROGANCE, at last, he's not a thankful man. But one day the dream will be over dear Faul!!!!

Faul shouldn't be called Faul, he should now officially be renamed Gaul... Arrogance is not a strong enough word. As I keep saying... WHAT A SCHMUCK !!!! ( and I hope John, Paul & George haunt him in his dreams, every night for the REST OF HIS LIFE !!! )... Don't gt me started Love to all... Chris

Eggman, you know how close this is to my heart. Since being directed to this website I have been rudely awakened. To things that I haven't thought about in 33 years !!! To the fact that I didn't fall out of love with Paul McCartney. I lost interest in him, because he wasn't Paul. The person I had fallen in love with was that beautiful boy in all of the before photos at Andys's website. Just not knowing how he really died ( no disrespect to the 601F document, but nothing is written in stone ). To not know if he suffered. That brilliant boy. If any of you can get your hands on the bootleg of The Beatles jamming to Paul singing Suicide, you must get it !!! It's an audio recording. Maybe 3 minutes long I can hear Julian in the background. He sounds very little. I'd say 2-3 years old I just researched his birthdate. Julian turned 40 on 4/08/03...So, if he was indeed 2-3 years old in that recording, it was made either 1965 or 1966... From listening to how deep Paul's voice is in this recording I'm willing to go out on a limb here & say PRIOR to Sept. 1966... I'm almost positive it's Paul, not Faul in that recording. This makes me especially angry, because Faul tried to sell the Suicide song to Frank Sinatra. I can guarantee you, it was to get even more fame. It's a wonderful song. That man's ego is tremendous !!! I'm glad Faul didn't record it.... With his tiny voice... Nothing like Paul's !!! Love to all... Chris

I have an interview (the very last one I think) where Faul says: "..and I was very lucky to meet the Beatles" H-O-W? He established The Beatles! BTW. From his answers it seems Faul HAS READ "60IF"!

Like I said earlier: Faul doesn't know what he's saying. It appears as though every time he gives an interview is a contridiction to his previous statements. And I agree with Chris, the arrogance of him!
Now another child is going to have the McCartney last name by deception.

;D Isn't that the truth. I like it when he falls all over his stupid self... What kills me is that I actually liked some of his stuff. Then I realized that the song of his that I liked the best . ( Another Day ) was actually written by Paul. Now, I will always wonder how much more I would've loved that song if Paul sang it... And life goes on... Chris

Wow, that's funny. I remember listening to all the audio samples at www.macca-central.com (they have samples of almost all the post Beatles material) and thinking that it was all just ridiculous garbage until I came to "Another Day" and thought "Well, that's actually pretty good, but it could have been done a lot better." Seriously!

I mean, Faul wouldnt be bad, but its who he replaced. I have to agree with chris. Paul was... wow. I mean, I dont blame anyone who fell in love with him. He even LOOKED like a great person. I honestally couldnt have thought the same about Faul.

In the book Paul McCartney by Bill Harry Faul states that it was he who told 'the other guys' to get together any interesting old photos they had hanging around to give to Richard Hamilton. It was Faul and Richard Hamilton who [Faul says] put together the inner poster over a few weeks for the White Album. We know it was John in reality who put himself on the line with the inclusion of many of the photos and clues in that poster.

I saw that documentary and it was mostly inaccurate in that things were spread all over the place. Case in point: It had him marrying Linda in '68, then suddenly flashed back to "Sgt. Pepper" the previous year.
I rest my case in point.

Cant say I remember Paul being in a succession of council flats. If I remember right the house Paul lived in has been commemorated, has a plaque on it which states Paul McCartney lived here etc.Part of Britains glorious heritage. No council flats,no way. [with regard to the stories Faul told on t.v. show]

According to Beatles history, it was George who lived in a lot of council flats. Paul did move around quite a bit, though.
