Faul seems to be fond of Ukelele stories. In the Anthology series , he relates how much he loved John's mum and how she loved playing the Ukelele . He goes on to say that whenever he sees someone playing the ukelele , he loves 'em.
In a concert in Ireland , he did a John tribute, then he did a George tribute by producing a ukelele he claimed George gave to him, and proceded to play it while covering one of George's songs !

How could Faul love John's mom when he was reared by his Aunt Julia?

How could Faul love John's mom when he was reared by his Aunt Julia? Actually, Julia was him mom, it was his Aunt Mimi who raised him. But Julia did come around from time to time. What I'd like to know is, would the real Paul have known Julia? She died when John was only 16 - had John met Paul at that time? I suppose I could get off my butt and look it up, but I'm hoping one of you would know for sure!

Paul met John in 1957, and Julia died in 1958.

Even if he is Faul, I think it WAS a nice gesture to do a tribute to George. He didn't sound so bad doing "Something" on ukelele.

I do know that his wife and son say he liked them, that there are pictures of him playing them, that he plays one in the jam session featured on the ANTHOLOGY DVD.
John himself said his mother taught him a mixture of banjo and ukelele chords, some of them made up by her because Paul's father said they weren't even real banjo chords.

I think this influenced Johns guitar playing. With that Jangly rickenbacker and him playing like a banjo he had a unique sound. I loved his guitar -style. The bar chord king .
