Maybe Curious or Perplexed could help me with this: If you had or have the chance to hear the Faul's songs "So Bad" (from Give my regards....) and "Coming Up" (from McCartney II) Could you explain me what was Faul doing with his voice, because I can't recognize his voice in this two songs, mainly in "So Bad". It sounds really strange for me

I will get hold of them as soon as I can, Eggy - unfortunately, I have to go to work in less than an hour.

Well, I will get those two CD's at Tower in the next week or so. Next week is super busy, probably the early part of December is better. I have a coupl'a projects to complete that will limit my time here. (Probably a good thing........) All this talk of PID is making some folks a lot of money............I mean, I believe PID, but it does sell CD's sometimes..............I'll have 'em all eventually! ;D ;D ;D

It sounds really strange for me *Speaking of 'Coming Up,' does anyone else remember the bizarre video FAUL made for this song? He utilized state-of-the-art 1980's technology and dressed himself up as a cast of well-known characters, playing multiple people, and they matted the video footage all together to make it appear like a huge band of people jamming the song, when it was all FAUL doing each role! An "All-FAUL Band" --his neurotic fixation realized! He spoofed the strange keyboard player for 'Sparks' who looked like a freaky Hitler/Bryan Ferry combination, He seemed to spoof John Lennon, dressing in a baggy white suit and fake full beard and long wig, with a guitar, making the peace sign..and the biggest deal (at the time) is, he got out Paul's BEATLE SUIT and old Hofner bass, jammed his Canadian feet into the Beatle boots, and supposidly either wore a wig or cut his hair in the Beatle cut again to PORTRAY 'Beatle' Paul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The psychological implications of that are multiple, but the most superficial reason is to really INDOCTRINATE the newer generations of potential fans that he, FAUL, is indeed Paul McCartney! So, I think that video of the song 'Coming Up' warrants a closer inspection and critique...anyone got a copy of it?

Yeah!!! Agree 100% with you Ian!!!! I have a post around here talking about that video. I didn't see it for many years. If I remember well, one of the 'Fauls' was dressed just like Bill Shepard in the White Album poster, I think it was the keyboard player!!!!!

The only reason I remember that vid is because of his Ron Mael imitation. Okay- you're right; but he was spoofing that quirky keyboard player for the almost-famous late 70's band 'Sparks' --who looked like that Bill pic on the white album poster, with the addition of a Hitler mustache. His (the sparks guy) gimmick was quirky, tensed up movements at the keyboard, and alternating glowering expressions with blank, blase expressions...which FAUL replicate quite well on the 'coming up' video. ..well, FAUL has had SOME experience in impersonation, eh? ;D

And the VERY best part of all, ladies and gentlemen, Mael has the very good taste to play the very best brand of synthesizer known, and my personal favorite, the RONALD!!!!!!!! Oh, yes, this little known but exquisite brand, formerly made at the Ronald McDonald Technical Institute at 25314 Huguenot Walloon Blvd in Esposito, California USA, was the worlds' most sought after electronic keyboard for a number of years. Ronald (Mr. McDonald) himself had designed this state of the art multi-purpose work station, a bitchin' axe that stunned the pros at KROG, YOMAMA, and CURSEWHILE. In an attempt to protect this little known (and less well understood technology) experts at McD. T. I. kept all their machines ZEALOUSLY locked away in the upstairs clown make-up and dressing room. Stars of such calibre as Mr. Mael, Michael McDonald, Margaret McDonald, and Old McDonald were said to be on the short list approved for rentals. No 5-star elite concert in the 80's was without this exquisite breed o'keys. Even greats like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and some say even Paul McCartney had to jump through many hoops to obtain permission to have this masterboard on stage with them. Rental included batterie pack, shake and bake oven, pair of Gensu knifes, and 3 authorized Ronald McDonald actors to stand guard over this cherished 88. Replaced largely by digital innovations in the 90's, several working models of the famed deluxe RONALD QZ39-60.5 (with Pro-deluxe-PCM anti-gravity card) are demonstrated daily, in the music history kiosk next to the Tyrannosaurus Rex display at the Smithsonian Institute. Mr. Mael could not be reached for comment. (and that's probably a good thing, Martha...........) ;D ;D ;D
