Having been some days in preparation
A splendid time is guaranteed for all
And tonight Mr. Kite is topping the bill.
Is Mr. K the KKK?

Is this talking about the religious sacrifice of fire?

The argument against this being a clue is that John was not supposed to know it was the KKK until after Sgt. Pepper (second half of 67) but ... suppose he found out after the album cover had been done (pointing the finger at The Rolling Stones as the guilty party) but shortly before the album was released. So he insisted that this song go in at the last minute.
Supposedly Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields were originally slated for that album but were then taken out. Was it to put in more songs with clues? Like this one?

Well, I have to say I've never quite thought of that song in that way. I had read that John wrote it , while reading an advertisment for a circus, in the newspaper. But then again, as we all know - JOHN WAS A MASTER OF THE DOUBLE ENTENDRE !!! Was that man brilliant, or what ;D
