It's a group, and their site is here: www.theresidents.co.uk/Check out the history, very interesting. I have been going through my audio files, and found this, must have been ages ago that I grabbed it, and I forgot all about it. http://*banned link*/Shoebox/Beatles_Collage_Residents.mp3 AKA "Beyond the Valley of A Day in the Life" At about 45 seconds in, you hear what may very well be a string of JPM snippits, strung together to say "please everybody, if we hadn't done what we could have done, we've tried". What is this from, of course it could be just "The Residents" themselves, whoever they are.. As you can hear, it's a collage of Beatles songs, run together and stepping over each other. At the very least, it's most entertaining. Tell me what you see....I don't believe in Beatles....opening chord from "Her majesty"...opening chord from "Tell Me Why"...backwards "Walrus"....Can't buy me...for I have got...whenever...close your eyes... And there's more.. put the headphones on, be prepared for something very freaky...

I've been a fan of the residents for a few years now (im only 19, gimme a break) and I've always found their Beatles affinity interesting. Was there some beatles force behind the residents that we dont know about?

Fascinating---perhaps, even more fascainting than the Beatles, as an over all story, the histories, amazing. I am so surprised that I had never heard of them before! Where, oh where, have I been!
It's a if a whole new saga, legend, epic, Edda, is there now to study and watch unfold.
I must get to Tower Records tomorrow and get there greatest hits. Funny, Amazon doesn't have much listed. Well, a couple of things, but I'd like to see more of a varietyof their catalogue! It appears to be so extensive! I'l have to eye-ball it again later.
Thanks for sharing, Jojo. Gee, they didn't get the kind of air-play that the Beatles, did, now did they?
Pure genius. And mixing Gershwin with James Brown. That is a thing that can not be comprehended. I can't wait to actually hear it!
Are they still recording? Are they all alive?
They just needed a little more press, that's all.
Well, the web is marvelous exposure for ageless talents like them. Though, in the art-work, well, it's kind of hard to tell them apart, but with practice, I think I'll get to where I can tell who's who.

Its an interesting take on the beatles work thats for sure! I havent noticed anything freaky, im probably just not noticing it, please tell me what/where i can hear. Well, I don't mean anything specific, I mean the piece as a whole, and looking at it through the PID/PWR lens as well. One should try not to get carried away in that of course, but I wonder if a majority of the inserted phrases were with that in mind. I wonder mind you, not saying it's a fact. "Tell me what you see" for example made me think of a Bill/Paul side by side. Or the clip at the end of the guys in happier times while the sad Walrus violins play. Take it for whatever, but I wonder, as I said.

There are a lot of theories about who the Residents are. A lot of people say that there is really only one of them in the recording studio and that one Resident is Mr. David Byrne, from the Talking Heads.

well, going back to your response jojo, ok, i now understand there isnt anything in particular thats freaky just the general sound, i understand now, eg. that file u posted, i think the beginning has been adapted to sound particularly cutting and creepy, and there is (to me anyway) a lot of indecipherable talk in the background, it may be just my PID mind working but i'm sure i heard john saying "paul is no longer here" or something similar!

Probably Eyesbleed sent this to me a while ago, now that I think of it. Anyone that knows of him from here way back, or currently at Spy forum, would know he's a Residents fan, I've seen that big eye posted a few times..just like here: http://*banned link*/Shoebox/Residents/onralph.jpg[/img] Strange, and so is this: http://*banned link*/Shoebox/Residents/crawfish.jpg[/img] Residents fans, any pictures of them in a way depicted other than the big eyeballs, or other costumes? As I read the history, it seems like it's written as if it was a joke or satire, JMO.

The "please everybody if we haven't done what we could've done we've tried" bit is Paul from the 1965 fan club message.
