Probably genuine but John chose it because it suited his purposes (for clues). Notice the words "Last night but THREE" - an indication of only 3 Beatles left? And see this thread.

as you know this track is featured on the ANTHOLOGY collection.... what you may NOT know is that ON it is a very significant moment of this whole thing.
in one of the early takes of MR. KITE "paul" can be heard advising john about how to do the song. he says something like "try and act like you KNOW about the show, even though you don't know". i can't make out what lennon says in response to this but he sounds like he's just heard something he can't believe.....i mean john seems to find that bit by paul to be VERY provocative. do you hear what i mean on the track? so i find it astounding that 1) john was including the song on PEPPER to take a swipe at "paul" and 2) there "paul" WAS trying to advise him like the REAL mccartney, unaware of what lennon was really UP to.
in light of 60IF that moment captured on ANTHOLOGY takes on a whole new meaning. what do you think?
