I've read that John's song "Cold Turkey" represents the suffering for a crisis from drug abstinence.
But rethinking to the text, it seems to me the story of Paul's agony.
Here is the text. What do you think about it?
Temperature's rising Fever is high Can't see no future Can't see no sky My feet are so heavy So is my head I wish I was a baby I wish I was dead
Cold turkey has got me on the run
My body is aching Goose-pimple bone Can't see no body Leave me alone
My eyes are wide open Can't get to sleep One thing I'm sure of I'm in at the deep freeze
Cold turkey has got me on the run
Cold turkey has got me on the run
Thirty-six hours Rolling in pain Praying to someone Free me again
Oh I'll be a good boy Please make me well I promise you anything Get me out of this hell
Cold turkey has got me on the run Oh, oh, oh, oh

It seems at face value heoin withdrawal (as I've heard, not experienced); but many lines fit as double entendre.
A lot of it could apply to JP's suffering.

And for me, another possible indication that Paul didn't die imediately but was left incapacitated (form his disease), and may have taken several days to die.

WOW, I never thought about the lyrics in that light. I always assumed it was strictly a heroin(or whatever) withdrawal song. I used to do a much faster version of Cold Turkey. After we quit doing covers, we kept doing CT. Of course I wasn't aware of PID back then either. GREAT thoughts on those lyrics! Just in case anybody's interested, & assuming it's OK, I'll put a link to my take on it. It's a 2200kb mp3 file. I think Mr.Lennon would've liked this version. www.geocities.com/eyesbleed/coldturkey.index.htm.mp3
