Here is a Lennon song written in a hotel and recorded in 1964.
here's the lyrics:
Oh dear, what can I do? Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue Tell me, oh what can I do?
She thinks of him and so she dresses in black And though he'll never come back, she's dressed in black Oh dear, what can I do? Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue Tell me, oh what can I do?
I think of her, but she thinks only of him And though it's only a whim, she thinks of him Oh how long will it take Till she sees the mistake she has made? Dear what can I do? Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue Tell me, oh what can I do?
Oh how long it will take Till she sees the mistake she has made? Dear what can I do? Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue Tell me, oh what can I do?
She thinks of him and so she dresses in black And though he'll never come back, she's dressed in black Oh dear, what can I do? Baby's in black and I'm feeling blue Tell me, oh what can I do?
Poor John is pining for a woman that is in mourning over the death of her man. Considering the amount of people that died in John's life, it is not shocking that a large amount of his music is dark, full of references to death, and longing for the return of people who died.
If this song was written after 1966 y'all would take it as more "proof" that Paul is dead, and that woman is really mourning for Paul....

Oh man, yer hard at it this morning aren't ya! I'll have to agree that there's a large amount clue-grabbing goin' on & sometimes people may be seeing clues where there really aren't any, so...... what's the problem? It seems only natural to me. Once you learn that The Beatles history isn't anything like what you've been told or read, it's only natural to go back & re-access lyrics & such. Most of their later songs have totally new meanings to me now. Baby Yer a Rich Man, Hello Goodbye, Strawberry Fields, Only a Northern Song, etc etc etc. They all have very solid interpretations now that I never realized before.

xpt626, Did I ever say I was unhappy here? Oh, how stupid of me, you really want me not to post anything questioning 60IF! I though this forum was for discussing clues about 60IF, I didn't understand that a hardcore belief in 60IF as the word of GH incarnate was required. My mistake! This is quickly turning into lessons in psychology and belief systems for me, instead of a forum concerning 60IF clues! DJ

I think it's silly to go back and re-read lyrics written pre-1966, looking for clues. I think it's even sillier to look at songs by other bands and look for clues there.
Hell, look at "With or Without You" by U2. "And you give yourself away..."
One could find clues in songs written by anyone!
