Has anyone explored the line:
"It was twenty years ago today, Sgt Pepper taught the band to play"
This could be significant, maybe not.
However i did a search on Google for two dates - 1st february 1947 (twenty years to the day before the song was recorded) came up with very little, check it out yourself.
However twenty years before the song was released on the album, being 1st june 1947 was the date of Ronny Wood's birthday.
Just my usual droning on, don't mind me...

yellow, this was sun king's take on the matter a few months ago: Exactly. He IS 10 years older than James Paul. Clue in "Sgt. Pepper" song. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Lennon/McCartney) published in 1967 "It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play They've been going in and out of style But they're guaranteed to raise a smile. So may I introduce to you The act you've known for all these years..." James Paul McCartney formed his first band on 1957...so actually... "It was ten years ago today,.." 20-10=10 age difference between Faul and James Paul McCartney

Uh, so when I saw him in October 2002 he was 70 years old? My dad's age? He played for 2 1/2 hours nonstop, didn't even see him take a drink of water. Then ran offstage for 2 minutes. Changed his shirt (Stop land mines) and played for another 20 min.
Damn, that old man is in shape!

If you're in good shape, you can still be pretty spry at the age of 70.

When the Anthology series was filmed in 1994, George Martin was 68 years old. Look at the dvd to see what a 68 year old man looks like. And you are saying that today, Paul McCartney is 71.
Does anybody believe that?

. And you are saying that today, Paul McCartney is 71. Does anybody believe that? Considering a few pics of Faul I can think of..... (The Mask) Ya, I've seen 70yr olds who look better. He's just standing on a stage playing songs. That's not hard, his crack band is doing all the "rocking" I can think of a few 50-60yr old performers who not only are onstage that long, but are pogo-ing & slammin' around & screaming the whole time...... so I'm not sure what yer point is.

I'll try to simplify it for you, eyesbleed. The man I saw in concert in 2002 was not 70 years old. Did you see any of his concerts? Not photos or video, but in the flesh? If not, then you can't really speculate on his age at the time. How does that fact that you can think of some 50-60 yr olds "pogo-ing and slammin" have any relevance to determining this man's age? Screaming? Yeah he screamed in Hey Jude (better, better, whooooaa!) and in plenty of other songs. My dad can scream too and he's 73.

Great show, but he was simply standing there singing somebody elses songs as he played guitar or piano. If ya got the talent, what's so hard about that? On the other hand, I know a few young'uns who get mighty wore out from a 2 hour show that requires them to scream thru 20+ songs as they pogo & slam it. So when I can see a 50-60yr old able to deliver 2hrs + of pure punk mayhem.... I'm impressed.

This looks to be about a 70 year old man to me, and that's not even taking into consideration the unknown amount of plastic surgery he's probably gone through! I mean, he doesn't look bad or anything... he looks pretty good for a man his age, but compare it with a recent photo of Ringo. It's astonishing!
