I haven't noticed much talk here of Geoff Emerick, the Beatles' brilliant sound engineer on the later album phase. Well, this was interesting.: mixonline.com/ar/audio_geoff_emerick/He was around from the beginning, but got promoted to engineering the albums instead of being a second or assitant, when Norman Smith? left. He was first hired in 1962 at the tender age of 16. Seems he didn't notice anything unusual at Abbey Road. Article details many technical points of recordings from Revolver thru Abbey Road. Very interesting.
