Babylon (David Gray) album: White Ladder
Friday night I'm going nowhere All the lights are changing green to red Turning over TV stations Situations running through my head Well looking back through time You know it's clear that I've been blind I've been a fool To ever open up my heart To all that jealousy, that bitterness, that ridicule
Saturday I'm running wild And all the lights are changing red to green Moving through the crowd I'm pushing Chemicals all rushing through my bloodstream Only wish that you were here You know I'm seeing it so clear I've been afraid To tell you how I really feel Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made
If you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon
Sunday all the lights of London Shining , Sky is fading red to blue I'm kicking through the Autumn leaves And wondering where it is you might be going to Turning back for home You know I'm feeling so alone I can't believe Climbing on the stair I turn around to see you smiling there In front of me
If you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon, Babylon
References:
1) Friday and saturday, Lady Madonna. 2) Lights changing from green to red (and someone might be driving without watching them) 3) A fool (on a hill?) 4) If you want it [here it is] come and get it (Anthology 3, Disc 2, Track 18) 5) London (And there we have Abbey Road studio's, a place where Paul had to get away from) 6) Autumn. (Paul's death was probably during the Autumn) 7) The end of the track reminds me of Hey Jude... Na nana nana nanaa. Nana nanaa. Hey Jude... (Keep on repeating..)

Though perhaps JPM's last weeks from Cielo Drive to RCA Rome to Nice to Highway 31 to Gemini 12 were not unlike Odysseus' odyssey back home from from Troy...
It's a stretch, unless there's some greater context within the album as a whole. I've read the Odyssey in two languages, and the song tracks with the story pretty well.

Bill did a stint as radio DJ on a show he called "Oobu Joobu". Of course many songs were Beatles and solo material, (mostly his of course) but he also played music from other groups. There may be some curious choices here, such as this one, "Food for Thought" by UB40:
Ivory madonna dying in the dust, Waiting for the manna coming from the west. Barren is her bosom, empty as her eyes, Death a certain harvest scattered from the skies.
Skin and bones is creeping, does`nt know he`s dead. Ancient eyes are peeping, from his infant head. Politician`s argue sharpening their knives. Drawing up their Bargains, trading baby lives.
(Chorus)
Ivory madonna dying in the dust, Waiting for the manna coming from the west.
Hear the bells are ringing, Christmas on it`s way. Hear the angels singing, what is that they say? Eat and drink rejoicing, joy is here to stay. Jesus son of mary is born again today.
(Chorus)
Ivory madonna dying in the dust, Waiting for the manna coming from the west. Ivory madonna dying in the dust, Waiting for the manna coming from the west.

SO YOU WANT TO BE A ROCK 'N ROLL STAR - Roger McGuinn - The Byrds.
so you want to be a rock 'n roll star then listen now to what I say just get an electric guitar and take sometime and learn how to play and when your hair's combed right and your pants fit tight it's gonna be all right
then it's time to go down town where the agent man won't let you down sell your soul to the company who are waiting there to sell plastic ware and in a week or two if you make the charts the girls will tear you apart
gotta pay for your riches and fame was it all a strange game you're a little insane the money that came and the public acclaim don't forget who you are you're a rock 'n roll star

BILLY DON'T LOSE MY NUMBER
Phil Collins
I think we have discussed the Phil Collins link to the Beatles & Faul in other threads here.
Someone mentioned that ol' Phil had an uncredited part in Help. Something about being seated in a theater?
I personally think Phil Collins was one of a battery of British songwriters employed by the EMI as part of their little mind control plans for all of us. Isn't EMI actually an arm of the British Government? I believe Total Information had mentioned this in past posts. If wrong, sorry.
I said it before and I'll say it again. Poor Paul was surrounded by the traitorous Neil Aspinall, Faul under the guise of Bill Shepherd (the future replacement), and others such as Phil Collins.
Who knows what Collins' role in this might have been in actuality. There is another song I'm going to post in a second. Just A Job To Do
Here are the lyrics to Billy Don't Lose My Number:
They came at night leaving fear behind Shadows were on the ground Nobody knew where to find him No evidence was found I’m never coming back They heard him cry And I believe him Well he never meant to do anything wrong It’s gonna get worse if he waits too long
Billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere That I can find you Oh now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh no
Searching through the day and into the night They wouldn’t stop till they found him They didn’t know him and they didn’t understand They never asked him why Get out of my way They heard him shout Then a blinding light Ooh all I could see was him running down the street Out of the shadows and into the night
Now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh
Don’t give up Keep running, keep hiding Don’t give up Billy, if you know you’re right Don’t give up You know that I am on your side Don’t give up Oh billy, you better, you better, you better run for your life
Now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh
They came at night leaving fear behind Shadows were on the ground Nobody knew where to find him No evidence was found I’m never coming back They heard him cry And I believe him He never meant to do anything wrong It’s gonna get worse if he waits too long
Now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now billy, billy don’t you lose my number Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh

JUST A JOB TO DO
Genesis
Here is another Phil Collins number that may be interpreted to be about PWR. If Paul was killed - and I hope he's somewhere out there - the killer may have been thinking something like this:
It's no use saying that it's alright, it's alright. But where were you after midnight, midnight. Heard a Bang, Bang, Bang; Down they go It's just a job you do Cos the harder they run, and the harder they fall. I'm coming down hard on you.
Now no-one saw what you looked like, what you looked like Like a stranger you came out of the night, out of the night Cos someone put the word on you, and I hope my aim is true.
Cos I got a name, and I got a number, I gotta line on you I got a name, and I got a number, I'm coming after you
Don't keep saying that it's alright, it's alright, It seems you went just a little too far this time Heard a Bang Bang Bang, and down you go, It's just a job I do, Cos the harder you run the harder you fall, I'm coming down hard on you, hard on you - I hope my aim is true.
I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you I got a name, and I got a number, and I'm coming after you
Keep running, Keep running; city to city Even if you're innocent, You can cause too much embarrassment And though your heart is breaking, And you know there's no mistaking. Cos you feel your life line breaking (keep running, keep running) You can feel your hands are shaking (keep running, keep running) And no-one answers the telephone You can never never ever go home alone and though your heart is aching and you know there's no mistaking. The footsteps close behind.
Now don't pretend that you sleep at night, but sleep tight And can't you feel that the time is right, it's alright. Heard a Bang Bang Bang, and down you go Oh no-one really cares Cos the harder you run, and the harder you fall. I'm coming down hard on you, hard on you - I'm hoping that my aim is true.
I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you I got a name, and I got a number, I'm coming after you
I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you I got a name, and I got a number, I got a job to do.
These lyrics to me are all about the replacement Bill Shepherd. Keep running Billy. You'll cause to much embarassment.

Why do you think Morrison and the Doors are singing about PID? Considering they came along in LA after PID already... When and how do you think they would have twigged on to the PID thing?
Considering the Mirrison's father was top-level Navy (presided over Tonkin), it's far more likely that Morrison's allusions to Satanic sacrifice arise from his own experiences and subconscious than something that happened to P& S, whom he never even knew.

I have an idea, how about you post every single song that mentions longing for something or mourning the loss of something, or every song that mentions the pressures of fame. I'm sure they are all Paul related. I know because they come with "visuals" and "consciousness".
no offense.

How come every post by defhermit is negative? It seems like defhermit has nothing to do but rag on other people's theories.

Actually, I don't post comments usually when I don't agree, because I think it's a waste of time. I think Byrds goes out on a limb sometimes, but so what? Everyone here goes out on limbs and most times those limbs break and fall to the ground. I think everything is worth considering. I looked at a whole string of Defhermit's posts and found them all to be nothing but hollow criticisms, so I said so. If everyone's ego's are going to get in the way, there's nowhere to go but down.

the eulogy:
Remember when you were young You shone like the sun Shine on you crazy diamond Now there's a look in your eyes Like black holes in the sky Shine on you crazy diamond You were caught in the crossfire Of childhood and stardom Blown on the steel breeze Come on you target for faraway laughter Come on you stranger You legend You martyr And shine You reached for the secret too soon You cried for the moon Shine on you crazy diamond Threatened by shadows at night And exposed in the light Shine on you crazy diamond Well, you wore out your welcome With random percision Rode on the steel breeze Come on you raver You seer of visions Come on you painter You piper You prisoner And shine Nobody knows where you are How near or how far Shine on you crazy diamond Pile on many more years And I'll be joining you there Shine on you crazy diamond And we'll bask in the shadow Of yesterday's triumph Sail on the steel breeze Come on you boy child You winner and loser Come on you miner for truth and delusion And shine

I ran into your best friend today Twelve nights since you ran away I asked about you and she said, can't say, can't say I'm feeling lonely and it seems to stay It's been a while since I felt that way Well, I can tell you there's no room to play this game All I know is what I'm missing What I'm missing is your kissing Are you listening Don't go, don't go telling me you're alright There's no room for getting uptight Don't go saying that you're OK When you're lonely Baby, don't go telling me we're over When you know you're my one and only lover And I won't go saying that we're OK when we're Lost without each other Cause we're lost without each other Cause we're lost without each other I didn't mean to start the last big fight You never should have hung up that night All I want to do is make things right Make it rightListen, with all the choices that we chose to make And all the promises we chose to break We were busy making big mistakes, yesterday All I know is what I'm missingWhat I'm missing is your kissing Are you listening Don't go, don't go telling me you're alright There's no room for getting uptight Don't go saying that you're OK When you're lonely Baby don't go telling me we're over When you know you're my one and only lover And I won't go saying that we're OK when we're Lost without... I can tell you one thing We're not better on our own I'm tired of running from my feelings Are you listening All I know is what I'm missing What I'm missing is your kissing Are you listening Don't go, don't go telling me you're alright There's no room for getting uptight Don't go saying that you're OK When you're lonely Baby, don't go telling me we're over When you know you're my one and only lover And I won't go saying that we're OK when we're Lost without each other 'Cause we're lost without each other 'Cause we're lost without each other
A truly emotional song about one persons inabilty to realise that their lover is dead won't ever be back.
I think this is PID related, your thoughts and comments are very much appreciated.

Ok there you are.
Well we know that they are without doubt separated, but one could be dead, we could say hanson know PID and wrote about the pain felt by paul and sylvie when they realised they had to hide their love away, before that dreaded night in september.
Anyway my point is, that song could be about it but most likely isn't.

Baby Blue was being recorded by the Byrds at about the time they met up with the Beatles at the DORIS DAY house, clueing them into Eunice and setting off the Yellow Submarine operation which left JPM dead a year later.
