Those two links just show that the term is popular in the south, not that it originated there. It may have originated elsewhere, but if you ever hear somebody from middle or South Georgia actually SAY it in their Full, lazy drawl, you will become GLAD to shift the blame credit elsewhere. I should go around just recording southerner's saying it, "Blay-uss He-uz Hawrrrrt." Some say "BLEH-siz-Hawwwrr-tuh." I could string together a verbal montage of 100 different stabs at that phrase, what fun. Hey, I LIVE here, I can say this stuff. My mom has a audio tape of me at 5 years old saying,"Hah-aye, Moh-mah, ken Ah trah an' plah-ee thee-us nyuh sohng I learnt mah-say-elf?" [Doc shudders] So, if y'all REALLY want to claim "Bless His Heart" for your region, have at it. I'l take a trade. Give me "Any Youse guys want some pop?" and I'll call it even.
