Everyone hears John saying "I buried Paul" at the end of Strawberry Fields Forever. Yet, John insisted that he was saying "Cranberry sauce".
Phaul goes along with it. "Yeah", I imagine him saying to himself, "deny it all you like, John. You've given me a break and I'm going to take it, thank you very much. "
So on the front cover of his first album you see cranberries and their sauce.
In effect, I believe Phaul was saying "You pulled your punch, John. You could have exposed me by not denying that you said 'I buried Paul', but you did deny it. That means I can now go ahead and take over the life of Paul McCartney for the rest of my life. I will. I will. Da da da da da da da da dum."
Now, if you have a copy of the vinyl album with the gatefold cover and look inside, you'll see a lot of photographs. I think there must be a lot of messages in these many photographs.
In the top row, first one picture on the left, we see an old boat that obviously is registered in the name of Paul McCartney. I think it is so old that it probably was bought by James Paul McCartney and taken over by Phaul. "Now", Phaul is saying, "I'm the captain of this ship."
In the top row, second from the left, there looks to be a loan tombstone sillouetted in the dark, under a cloudy sky, with a mountain range skyline in the background. Can anyone verify this? Might this be the tombstone of James Paul McCartney? I've read speculation on this website that JPM was buried on Gibralter, near Spain. Is anyone familiar with the skyline of the rocky island of Gibralter? Does it match this photograph?
The third photo from the left, top row, is Phaul playing guitar, looking quite masterful doing it. I think it, like everything else in this album, is saying "I'm Paul. That's all. Get used to it."
Any comments on the other photographs from the inside cover?
