I had watched Help on VHS and I noticed during "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" and I noticed a straight nose and he had a facial twitch. I've never seen footage of Lennon and a facial tick or twitch. Something strange had been going on during the filming of Help. The airport scene where they were in disguise and on their way to the Bahamas, the strange "Beakman" Lennon was in a wheelchair, and I noticed that Paul seemed taller than the others, and there have been switchouts throughout the film, flipping between Beatles and replacements.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this particular guy, Ralph was used as a Lennon....now what makes me wonder, was he the one who was killed in NYC? Or was there yet another fake Lennon???

I'm afraid you have all got that wrong about the "Ralph Ellis" double; the photo is of Ray Ennis of the Swinging Blue Jeans. The "Blue Jeans" were still touring up til about 15 years ago, to my knowledge. Ray Ennis may have looked a bit like John in the '60s but not as he got older. I have seen a video of him talking about the sacking of Pete Best and he has not aged at all to resemble John Lennon. So that is a red herring...

Thank you; I will accept I got Ray and Ralph mixed up and Ralph Ellis did indeed leave the group in 1966. This is interesting....

This is old thread; there was definitely something "not right" about MMT .....Ringo was wooden (I heard it was not properly scripted and they ad-libbed a lot) he seemed devoid of a personality and none of it made sense anyway even to the most die-hard Beatles fan! The closing sequence "Your Mother Should Know" Paul was a double imo; the heights would not have matched and would have been noticeable. Why was Victor Spinetti in all three Beatles films? Why did Paul suddenly stop wearing shoes as in "I am a Walrus" as well as "Abbey Road" cover? If they were doubles; they were also actors.

Daveyo said Paul was first to be replaced: this is not the case as Pete Best was the first to be replaced by Ringo ....on the Denmark/Holland/Australia tour 1964 a replacement was brought for Ringo; Jimmy Nichol session drummer and it may have been the case that the record company was thinking of making him permanent? Jimmy Nichol apparently stated that he was hoping he would be kept on. Why would he think that if he knew he was only a temporary stand in? Ralph Ellis was very similar in looks and build to John and after leaving the Swinging Blue Jeans in early 1966 (that year again) he disappeared from view.
