Foris is younger than Doris IMO - "Doris" certainly seemed to reyouth in the 60s so that may explain the anomaly. I believe you may be correct in this. It seems that Foris had some more plastic surgery done before the movie Pillow Talk was made in 1958/1959. Her nose looks smaller no doubt. Also her hair is styled differently and died a lighter shade of blonde.

The "Powers behind this " will do whatever they have to to improve the "illusion".

Foris right after she replaced Doris: The "new" Foris with the smaller nose, after some plastic surgery no doubt , and the new doo: Anyone see the difference?

The Man Who Knew Too Much is being shown this Friday night 10:45pm on TV ONE (New Zealand).
Is this the first appearance of Foris? What should I be looking out for?

"The Man Who Knew Too Much" seems to be the last film with Doris Kappelhoof as DORIS DAY.
Good film.
Doris does seem a little tense. Of course, her character is in a tense situation.

Wasn't the plot supposed to be an indicator or be some sort of clue?

The movie "The Man Who Knew Too Much" is a remake of an earlier Hitchcock film made in the thirties starring (I think) Peter Lorre.
Also, I recall from a newspaper article in the fifties when the first Rock/Foris movies started to come out, a comment about the first film. I recall the shots of Foris were fuzzy in the movie and the newspaper commented that Foris was getting long in the tooth and the camera was using a certain filter to make her appear younger. Probably, with the latest digital technology, they have corrected this problem.

Wasn't the plot supposed to be an indicator or be some sort of clue? After Doris made The Man Who Knew Too Much, she started having anxiety attacks. Probably due to the overwhelming schedule she was enduring. She had made 19 movies from 1948 to 1956! Obviously she was a hot commodity. So when she was having this anxiety she very well may have wanted out of the business or at least asked for a long break. Not wanting to stop the Doris money train, "the powers that be" had her replaced instead. It was some time in late 1955 or early 1956.

Do you think Doris died around then or just went into "retirement"?
And is "Julie" the first Foris movie?

I watched a Foris movie on Saturday. It was the one with her, James Garner & Chuck Conners. She was stranded on a desert Island with Chuck Conners for 5 years, due to a plane crash. So, everyone presumed she was DEAD

Do you think Doris died around then or just went into "retirement"? I don't know to tell the truth. If you believe the Terry Melcher story then she was placed in a mental institution for who knows how long. Quite possibly. I've never seen the movie, only still shots and they look like Fake Doris to me. The one made after Julie is definitely Foris.

Interesting thought: What if a celebrity has disappeared for 5 years and was replaced (presumed dead but they wanted to keep making money)? What happens then when they comes back? Do they kill that celebrity to keep the replacement a secret or does that celebrity quietly "retire", deciding that it's not worth the effort making a real comback? Or does they simply step back into the role of themselves while the impersonator quietly exits?
