This is actually ON-TOPIC and should be placed in clues, since this was a clue in Dig It.
I don't have a good guess as to why. Perhaps someone acquainted with British football (i.e., soccer) history can hazard a guess.

Perhaps someone acquainted with British football (i.e., soccer) history can hazard a guess. well i had a look on google and found no reference to it so if it is true then there's a pretty good cover up on it... i can only assume that he either died or wanted to leave for some reason and similarly to the PID story there was a replacement hired who looked enough like him to pass for him.. but this is all speculation and full of holes |
