Someone told me that the actress playing Monica in series (1-5 i think) was fired and they got another actress in who was related to David Arquette (6-10) and gave her plastic surgery to get her to look similar and change her name and keep the arquette so any resemblance between the two could be passed off as them being close... it makes a good point though as her character in the way she acts and her appearance was so different, I mean look at chandler you can still see his character in series 10 saying stuff he says in series 1, but the monica in series 1-4 would never say stuff monica in series 7-10 does.
And she does look SO SO different, don't know if anyone has pics of series 1 and series 10 to compare?

It's the same actress, only she married david arquette, so of course she is related to him. April is far away, so save the april fools jokes til then.

what does it matter what monica would say? monica dosent exist, she is a made up character. courtney cox dosent write the script, she is an actress. if there was a change is the dialouge of a character, maybe a writer was changed or replaced. omg! maybe they died and it was all part of a cover up! really, how she was acting makes no difference what so ever, but she was doing just that, acting.

People, I think it would stead everyone well to keep an open mind. I've never really been into friends. Maybe Joe is. I would guess that you'd have to be into the show to notice a difference like that.

Her eyes look about the same IMO which is crucial since the eyes are the windows of the soul.
Might be just different makeup or aging - I also think there's been some platic surgery but I'm not righting this off either. Haven't seen enough to know but I think they would be much better now at replacements than they were in the 60s - I suspect the art of replacement has been refined somewhat.

Yeah the eyes were what I noticed when I thought hmm perhaps this is stupid, but you can always get contacts. And the thing I was saying about her voice it's not so much the things she says it's just her voice is completely different and of course her mannerisms but they can be written off as character too. But then plastic surgery can change a lot nowadays and she might just of lost weight but I think there is a possiblity here

I guess there's a possibility. That anorexia thing she went through changed her appearance, but if she's been replaced, they did a better job on her than they did on Faul. Joe Star, you cracked me up. If they hired a David Arquette relative to replace her and then he married her .... ;D

The following is SPECULATION only:
Anorexia can kill you! It killed Karen Carpenter.
So I suppose a scenario could be that Courtney died about the end of the fourth season; the network had a hit show on their hands but, knowing how characters dying on a hit show or being replaced by other characters tends to not keep the ratings in the long run they decided to replace her instead - a money decision.
So what is Fourtney Fox up to since Friends finished? Is she "retiring" or what?
What about her appearances in the "Scream" trology?

It's difficult to say because her character is totally different she has a fringe though in the first one and hair covering her face but i'd say that's defo the first one in those, I haven't seen no. 3 but bought the trilogy box set for halloween! Though the 3rd one is the first one she has arquette in her name for

You know, I was reading an article the other day about the new 'Friends' spinoff 'Joey.' It said that whenever Matt LeBlanc gets a phone call on set from one his old 'Friends' castmates, he stops filming to take the call. It sounds like they're very codependent on each other. Almost like they went through something traumatic together?

National Enquirer February 4, 1997Courteney Cox: I hate my body Gorgeous Friends star Courteney Cox thrills millions of guys each week with her seductive good looks-but she absolutely despises her face and body and is insanely jealous of shapely co star Jennifer Aniston. Courteney says she has big "hippo hips," a flat butt and thin lips-and she complains about crow´s feet as well as limp, stringy hair. And it dosn´t stop there! The raven-haired beauty, who plays Monica Geller, cringes when she looks in the mirror and sees freckles she calls "measles." "I've got hippo hips, thin lips-and my teeth are too big!" Disgusted with her appearance, the insecure actress told a friend she resembles "an outcast from ´Star Trek.´" "The worst is that compared to Jennifer. I look like the sad, ugly stepsister. No matter how much lipstick I use, my lips are always razor thin. My teeth are way too big for me face, and I have so many freckles that it looks like I have a bad case of measles." Courteney was green with envy when Jennifer´s hairdo become a craze that swept the nation. So the jealous actress sacked the show´s hairdresser to give her an equally stylish hairdo-but when she looked at the result, her heart hit the floor. "I asked for a Demi Moore, but instead I got the Dudley Moore," the disgusted performer told her co-star. The 32-year-old star´s obsession with her appearance has become fodder for on-set jokes. And no one loves to rib her more than Matt Perry, who plays witty Chandler Bing. revealed the friend. "Matt walked up behind me her and started prancing around her like a penguin-making fun of how big-hipped Courteney walks. "She shouted, "Matt, stop it! You know how self-conscious I am about my hippo hips.´" When Courteney and Matt were doing a scene in a kitchen, the actress accidentally kept dropping cooking utensils-and Matt seized the opportunity to tease her. "During a break in filming, he got hold of a skeleton prop, took off it´s hand and shoved it up his own shirt sleeves," revealed the friend. "Matt then began tapping his skeleton hand on the kitchen counter and saying, Hi, I´m Courteney Cox. I´m always dropping things because they slip through my bony, skinny fingers. "Everyone cracked up. Courteney was a good sport. She tries to take the jokes in stride." The actress, "hates the way her legs expand at the thigh region-especially because she thinks she has bird legs from the thigh down," added an insider. She is also obsessed with staying young-and is even considering plastic surgery, as the ENQUIRER recently revealed. The insider disclosed, "Her closest friends have a difficult time understanding how she put herself down because all of Hollywood thinks she´s a beauty. "Whenever she looks in the mirror she makes sure sh's wearing her "I only see ugly" glasses. Like the way people with anorexia think they are fat. But to her fans, she´s a perfect '10'" Written by SUZANNE ELY and MARC CETNER

Heaps of photosA bunch of linksKnock yourself out! There are younger photos where she does seem to look different but much of it could come down to the above-mentioned plastic surgery that she would've taken - perhaps she had work done on others part sof her body as well since she was so concerned about it and hence began walking/moving differently as a result or it could've been a conscious effort to change her movements and even her speech since she appears to hate herself so much.

What I have noticed in the later seasons, is that Courtney (if that realy is her) puts alot more makeup on her face - some sort of white powder stuff is it? It could be covering up aging but she appears to have gone from using almost none to a whole ton of the stuff virtually overnight.

Is it my imagination or did Courtney in those early episodes seem smaller somehow? Perhaps not as tall?

I guess I'll just have to get the old Friends episodes because I don't see a significant difference. Just got done watching the Scream trilogy again last week and didn't even think of it. She's got something new coming up.
