Ok, well maybe not. But has anyone heard music from that band "Seether"? I have a pretty good ear for voices (I'm an amature/studying voice actor) and I swear it sounds like a slightly aged Cobain. And knowing what I know about Paul and Billy, I cant help but ponder about this guy...

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know when i saw the title of this thread i thought yeah yeah someone either taking the p*ss or severely deluded (no offence ;D) but i was intrigued enough to find out for myself being a nirvana fan But i just listened to the beginning of a live version of a song called "Love Her" and i thought "hmmmm, guitar sounds reasonably cobainesque, so what does he sound like?" Then i hear "i met a girl who hated the world......." and that hit it home big time, this guy is an incredible soundalike! surely thats all he is? Well i dunno, has anyone ever seen them perform? it would be interesting to know thats for sure, this has all the makings of a great thread if there are enough people interested, great post jon!

Just watched one of their videos on mtv.com...
Yeah they sound a lot like Nirvana, and the singer sounds a lot like Kurt, but not THAT much....
I was in a band through high school and college, and I was the bass player and singer. We worshipped Nirvana. We basically started as a Nirvana cover band. I got in a bad habit of, myself, sounding a lot like Kurt Cobain. It's really not that hard, he had one of those voices where his singing has a certain quality because he's singing out of one part of his voicebox... I'm not sure how to describe it. It's a voice that is not hard to copy. Kind of like how the guy from Creed is obviously trying to mimic Eddie Vedder. This guy sounds more similar to Kurt that the creed guy does to Vedder, but you know what I mean.

Ok perhaps i went a bit over the top (i had had a few bevvies)!
But still that guy is a great soundalike, i understand that kurts voice is easily copyable, coz i feel (if it doesnt count as blowing ones own trumpet so to speak) that i can do a good rendition when i play with my own band.
Still, listening to a couple of live seether tracks it is soooooooooooo nirvanaesque, to the extent that if you played polly or my girl or something like that followed up by the afforementioned seether songs, to someone who had never heard of either, they would think it was the same band.
Having said that the same goes for many beatles fans who believe paul is not dead!

I will bet you a million dollars that, like my old band, seether started as a nirvana cover band... much like creed started as a pearl jam cover band...

I'm impressed that I got any responses mainly because I was extremely high at the time. He is a great sound-a-like...I was just feeling "conspiracy-ish".

"Courtney Love 'Sick' Of Kurt Cobain Questions
Courtney Love is pleading with the media to stop quizzing the rocker about her late husband Kurt Cobain because she's "sick" of talking about their short-lived marriage.
The Hole singer wed the Nirvana frontman in 1992 when she was pregnant with their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, but tragedy struck when he was found dead in his Seattle, Washington home just two years later.
Love has been candid about her relationship with Cobain in the past - but she's tired of answering reporters' questions about what her late husband would be like if he was still alive today.
She tells Britain's NME magazine, "I am not his spokesperson on Earth. I don't know what he'd be like now, he could be into society girls, he could be into fat girls, he could be homosexual. We don't know, he died at 27." And Love admits she's feeling even lonelier now she's lost custody of Frances, now 17: "I'm ultimately a widow and a single mother, who's not even getting to be a mother right now. I am so alone, it's freaky."
The teenager was placed under the temporary guardianship of her paternal grandmother and an aunt in December after falling out with her mother.
Love was subsequently slapped with a restraining order by a U.S. judge, preventing her from contacting her daughter until their next court date later this year. The singer is putting her wild days firmly behind her and is currently attempting to reinvent herself using her birth name Courtney Michelle. "
