Even on an official site of the band, smb mentions the fact that Pal died in 1993 coz of complications from a brain surgery. Just like in Beatles' case as well, a replacer had to be found as soon as possible. And he was found indeed. Notice that in recent biographies of the band theres is no Pal Waaktaar, but a Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. Officially, Pal changed his name for the sake of his wife Lauren Savoy. Officially... And he always wears sun glasses. Reason? Complications from eye surgery done on him to fill in the place of Waaktaar...

Sound pretty typical replacement operation but, to be honest, I've never heard of this guy either. ;D

ive heard of pal waaktaar of a-ha big in the 80's over here in the u.k.looks like typical replacement similarities of JPM also. (Bass player,changed his name to paul) bit of a coincidence?
