This quote is also found in a book titled "Beatles In Their Own Words". The book, a compilation of various Beatle interviews through the years, was published in 1978.
In this book, I believe there is also a mention by Ringo that it was in fact Elvis Presley that sang Lady Madonna.
Photo used on cover of book gives great detail into the various surgerical scars on Bill's poor, battered face. This, and those giant brown contact lenses.

In this book, I believe there is also a mention by Ringo that it was in fact Elvis Presley that sang Lady Madonna. I think he was joking. Viv Stanshall ('Mean Mr. Mustard') would sing in an Elvis voice when performing with the Bonzo Dog band, and that person was also Faul, so "Elvis" (Faul) sang Lady Madonna using his Elvis voice. And now Viv is Neil Aspinall? It is confusing. Notice discussion of whether Viv and Faul were twins in this thread: 60if.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=Essential&action=display&thread=1114511797&page=1I guess it could be that Neil's twin (Faul's twin) Viv was "Elvis" (?) * *This remark added after JoJo had already posted his comment below, so Understand that as you read through this thread. ;D

I was gonna say the same thing about the Elvis comment, there were comments like "It's his Elvis voice, or he's doing Elvis".
Sounds like a book worth buying though.

Here is the exact quote from the book:
"It sounds like Elvis, doesn't it? No - no it doesn't sound like Elvis. It is Elvis - even those parts where he goes very high."
I don't think he was joking. Doesn't sound like it anyway. If you listen carefully, it does sound like an early Elvis. Maybe vocal track speeded-up just a bit?
I wonder if there is any documented relationship between The Beatles and Elvis? Have to look that one up.

From: www.geocities.com/~beatleboy1/dba11road.htmlHER MAJESTY (Lennon/McCartney) PAUL (Bill-Neil) 1969: "That was just... I don't know. I was in Scotland, and I was just writing this little tune. I can never tell, like, how tunes come out. I just wrote it as a joke." ;D

Thought I'd mention this.. I got a Sirius radio about a month ago, (the music choices are fantastic btw) and I was flipping through the stations. I stopped at the all Elvis channel and what did I see? (the artist and song are always displayed) "Lady Madonna - Elvis Presley".
Most unfortunately, the song was almost over, only caught the last few lines. Obviously it sounded like Elvis doing Lady Madonna, what else would it be? On the other hand, what I heard sounded like some versions of Bill doing the song that I've heard. Gotta track this one down..

I'd love to think Lady Madonna was Elvis singing a JPM song... but how would it have come together? Did Harrison secretly visit Elvis in LA in 67?

Wow! What a find JoJo! You are too . If you didn't know it was Elvis a case could be made that it's Faul. I'd say sped up it would sound remarkably like him.
