Has anyone noticed how faul seems to mix up the words in Ob la di.
He sings the lines;
Happy ever after in the market place Molly lets the children lend a hand Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face And in the evening she's a singer with the band
But to me it makes a lot more sense as;
Happy ever after in the market place Desmond lets the children lend a hand Molly stays at home and does her pretty face And in the evening she's a singer with the band
I know people think it points to a clue but not for me, anyway, what do you reckon?

I reckon it's absolutely on purpose, like "Boy you've been a naughty girl you let your knickers down". Like Paul wearing a dress in the MMT cartoon of him standing on a hill. etc.

According to some source (don't remember which) they left in the mistake because it was funny in Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

Ok, yeh thats a possibility byrds, it does seem to all add up to some sort of gender bending, but likeTPI it does sound to me like it's a mistake, you know they finally get a perfect sounding take, then they listen to it two or three times and someone realises the mistake, but they think "hey it sounds ok though, a nice quirk"
What makes me think this is that Desmond owns the barrow on the marketplace right?
So why would it go from saying desmond does his pretty face to and in the evening SHE'S a singer with the band?

"desmond stays at home and does his pretty face and in the evening she's a singer with the band"
the sentence doesn't have to be only talking about one person. they've already established earlier in the song that they are talking about 2 people, desmond and molly, so the sentence could be simply reporting 2 things about 2 people, continuing the way the song has from the beginning....
OR...
it could be that he is Desmond sitting at home "doing his pretty face" (putting on makeup), WHICH LEADS to the complete "her" going out and being the singer with the band...
who knows?
