There was a movie called 'Seconds' with Rock Hudson that came out in 1966...
"Plot: Arthur Hamilton, a middle-aged banker who has become disillusioned with his life, suddenly receives a phone-call from a friend he believed to be dead. The friend invites him to join a mysterious organization which can offer him a new life. Investigating he learns that, for a large sum of money, the organization will offer him the chance, through surgery, to become a younger man and take on a new identity. He eagerly accepts this and becomes a ‘reborn’, taking the name Antiochus Wilson and sets out to lead the life he always wanted to, of becoming a painter. But as a ‘reborn’ he soon finds his new life not quite all he expected it would be."
It was made by John Frankenheimer, who also made 'The Manchurian Candidate'.
"When Beach Boy Brian Wilson saw this film when it was released in 1966 he literally went insane. He believed Phil Spector was beaming him secret messages through the film to sabotage his career (the main character's last name was Wilson which may have added to his paranoia). But for a relatively healthy viewer it won't drive you insane...but it'll definitely have an effect on you. If one had to pin down what this film is a metaphor for, it would have to be the old alienation of modern society theme, but here with an intense sci-fi-like twist. A must for all Frankenheimer fans, Rock Hudson fans, and/or '60s afficionados."
Didn't Rock Hudson die a little early too...hmmm...

Released 5 October 1966, same period of time JPM died. Wilson flipped out "for good" upon meeting Sir Doppelganger a number of months later.
Hudson was of course close to the whole DORIS DAY operation.

Interesting! I've never seen this film and now I must. - T.I. had Wilson met the real JPM? Did he lose it after the realization?

Interesting! I've never seen this film and now I must. Me too, I'm going to have to buy this, some used ones, not too expensive: tinyurl.com/9xxjgBut take a look at this comment, weird: Frankenheimer told how the right-handed actor Randolph had to learn to do many thing left-handed to match the left-handed Hudson. The comment was made while Randolph, as Hamilton, was riding a commuter train and doing a crossword puzzle right-handed!

Apparently it was Faul who met Brian Wilson...as it was April 10th 1967 when he went to L.A. to visit the Beach Boy. It seems that shortly after that Brian went totally mad.
" On April 10, McCartney spent the day in the studio with Brian and the Boys, playing them a recently completed demo record of “A Day in the Life” from Sgt. Pepper’s. Apparently the Boys and McCartney got along well, and later that night they recorded a joking cover of “On Top of Old Smokey” together. Al Jardine even remembers McCartney somewhat taking control of the “Vega-Tables” session from a passive Brian -- which would be indicative of Brian’s feelings of inferiority and desperate competition with regards to the Beatles."
Here are some lyrics from the "Smile" album:
Heroes and Villains
I've been in this town so long that back in the city I've been taken for lost and gone And unknown for a long long time
Fell in love years ago With an innocent girl From the Spanish and Indian home Home of the heroes and villains
Once at night Catillian squared the fight And she was right in the rain of the bullets that eventually brought her down But she's still dancing in the night Unafraid of what a dude'll do in a town full of heroes and villains
Heroes and villains Just see what you've done
Heroes and villains Just see what you've done
Stand or fall I know there Shall be peace in the valley And it's all an affair Of my life with the heroes and villains
My children were raised You know they suddenly rise They started slow long ago Head to toe healthy weathy and wise
I've been in this town so long So long to the city I'm fit with the stuff To ride in the rough And sunny down snuff I'm alright By the heroes and
Heroes and villains Just see what you've done
Heroes and villains Just see what you've done
In Blue Hawaii
Water, water, water, water Is it hot as hell in here or is it me? It really is a mystery If I die before I wake I pray the Lord my soul to take my misery I could really use a drop to drink Somewhere in a placid pool and sink Feel like I was really in the pink
A lucid dream, but I don't sleep I'm slumbering There's still a promise we must keep I'm wondering
Wa wa ho wa, Hawaii Wa wa ho wa, Hawaii way beyond the sea Wa wa ho wa, Hawaii Wa wa ho wa, Hawaii
Oh I could use a drop to drink right now In the waterfall, back there in Hawaii Take me to a luau now And lay before me wholly, holy cow
Down in blue Hawaii So far away from blue Hawaii
Aloha nui means goodbye

AHA! There is my six-degree separation to JPM!!! I went to an art college in NYC and took typeography classes taught by Saul Bass! He was quite old at that time and was/is a very well respected graphic artist who did the titles for MANY big budget pics from the 50's on. Definitely an "in-the-loop" kinda guy. Bass -> Frankenheimer->Hudson->Day->Melcher->JPM. Cool.

I noticed that the harmonies in " In the Back Seat of My Car" on Faul's Ram album are very Beach Boy-esque, and the song is about riding through southern California in a car (a frequent Beach Boy theme) and on to Mexico City. I wonder if Brian actually is on that recording. The words to that Hawaii song that Semolina pointed out haunt me. Gotta be something there.

Just got through watching it tonight, OMG I was blown away! After the surgery, he gets an orientation, and they have already decided what his new career will be, based on recording his responses to questions while under the influence of sodium pentathal. They still need to narrow it down, so they whip out a stack of diplomas from ivy league schools, all backed up by fictional records already on file. "How is this possible?" he asks. Well...they don't answer, but it's all taken care of, don't worry. He gets a house on the beach in California, complete with a butler/handler, who will be there "in case he has any problems". Oh to back up a bit, it's decided he will become an artist, and he is provided with a body of work to back that up, but in time, he will develop his own style Sound familiar? At the beach, he meets a girl, a cute blond who is divorced, and separated from her kids, left it all behind. He starts to fall for her, and they get close, have a good time, he's having the time of his life. The viewer might suspect that she's a "second" herself, but you know what she really is? She was put there by the "company", yet another handler.. Sound familiar? (again) Well I won't give the ending away, but it's not pretty.. how does it feel to be, one of the beautiful people?
