This is the well known song "Watching the wheels". But I want to mark some things in it. Take a look: Watching the Wheels People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing,(To place clues?) Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin, (The conspirators?) When I say that I'm o.k. they look at me kind of strange,(?) Surely your not happy now you no longer play the game, (Faul's game?) People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away, Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me,(The conspirators again?) When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall, Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball? (Faul's conspiracy?) I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go,(?) People asking questions lost in confusion,(About Faul?) Well I tell them there's no problem, Only solutions, (To reveal the truth?) Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind, (Brainwash) I tell them there's no hurry... I'm just sitting here doing time, (The ironical John) I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go. (John's last goodbye?) Think about it, for me it is very revealing

here i have added my thoughts:
When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall (john being afraid of the conspirators)
No longer riding on the merry-go-round, (john no longer playing the game) I just had to let it go,(he just had to let the game go)

Most people probably assumed that this was about John not making music to be with his family, but then...THIS IS MUSIC, ISN'T IT?! Very good analysis; in fact, I'm not sure if you could even interpret it another way.

Before I knew 60IF I thought that the song was about John not making music like you said. But yesterday when I listened the song again I felt different things in it. 60 IF opened my mind!!!

;D Very good Eggman. I'm never going to be able to think of it any other way now !!!!I think John was just tired of playing the game. Maybe he'd had enough. I think he wanted to live his life his way. I think by then the way he saw it, the worst that could happen was that he'd die. But then, he'd be with Paul !!!! So he'd WIN !!!!! As always, just my opinion !!! I know for a fact that living under the thumb of the conspirators all of those years, led to the ruination of John Lennon. If the conspiracy never happened, he could've been so much more !!!! Love to all... Chris

I was always surprised at how John seemed to change more & more with each year that passed after Paul died. Almost like he had a degenerative disease. A disease of the soul. Like he was wasting away inside, without his right hand. He tried to fill the Void with Yoko. It's like comparing a vanilla ice cream soda to a can of diet cola... NOOOO comparison !!! Love to all... I too noticed how John had changed over the years. Until now I never gave it too much thought. John tried to fill the void but it never worked out.
Poor John!

Paul death indeed. I was listening to Free as a Bird last night & realized that he was singing it to Paul... Now THAT is sad... Whatever happened to, the life that we once knew.... Can we really live WITHOUT EACH OTHER ?! I think that whenever this song was made, was the time when John had finally given up. He had just had enough of The Game & being forced to forsake Paul... After Paul died, John was no longer living. He was just existing... Love to all... Chris

Sorry Chris, if I'm not wrong, this part of the song was added by Faul, George and Ringo. In John's original demo this part doesn't exist. And if you hear it well, this part was sung by Faul!!!

John sings the most of the song but in this specific verse you mantioned "Whatever happens to..." this part is singing by Faul the first time and the second time is singing by George. I guess that you can download John's original demo of this song from Kazaa (bad boy!!!)

I think I've discovered one of John's last great clues... Has anyone here really studied the lyrics to Real Love. Not the version that Faul, George & Ringo released. John's demo version. I was just listening to it for the 1st time. The music is so haunting. I've never heard John play anything like it before. I truly believe that he was inspired by Paul when he wrote the music to that song. I also believe it's about his love for Paul. He had been without him for so long. I am a believer in the afterlife. I think that when John wrote this & Free as a Bird, it was when Paul reentered John's life. Somehow he re-established contact with Paul. It must've taken away his fear of death. It was shortly after this, that he stopped being in fear for his life. He discharged his bodyguards. From then on, when he left his apartment, he knew his life was in danger. The only explanation for him doing this, was because he could no longer live the life he was living. Actually, he wasn't living he was EXISTING... He missed Paul & knew that if he was killed, he would be joining him... Here's the lyrics to Real Love : Real Love All my little plans and schemes Lost like some forgotten dreams Seems that all I really was doing Was waiting for you Just like little girls and boys Playing with their little toys Seems like all they really were doing Was waiting for love Don't need to be alone No need to be alone It's real love, it's real Yes it's real love, it's real From this moment on I know Exactly where my life will go Seems that all I really was doing Was waiting for love Don't need to be afraid No need to be afraid It's real love, it's real Yes it's real love, it's real Thought I'd been in love before But in my heart, I wanted more Seems like all I really was doing Was waiting for you Don't need to be alone Don't need to be alone It's real love, it's real It's real love, it's real Yes it's real love, it's real It's real love, it's real Yes it's real love, it's real It's real love, it's real Yes it's real love, it's real It's real love, it's real I don't mean gay love necessarily ( although I guess it's a possibility that both men were bi-sexual )... But I do think that John & Paul were soul-mates... They perfectly complimented each other intellectually & emotionally... Love to all... Chris

I DON'T know it Eggy. I'm just making the suggestion that it's a possibility. I do know that they really loved each other. That John was devastated after Paul's death. It really effected his life, in a very negative way ... Love to all... Chris

Chris, Your interpretation of the song is remarkable! Surely he wasn't singing about Yoko. Makes you really wonder.
I am sure that we will never confirm that they were bi-sexual. However, 4 guys being together alot gets you to thinking.

Rojopa & Mrs. Redford - it's not so much the words, although I found them telling. It was the music. It gets under your skin. That music just keeps running through my head. It's truly haunting. When I saw the video for the 1st time, I saw Faul singing to it. I knew in my heart that there was NO WAY that man wrote that song. When I heard it was John I was really confused. It' s definitely NOT his style. It's so melodic. I don't know how to explain it. I just can't believe that John wrote that alone. In my heart I believe that he had Paul's help... As usual, just my 2 cents... Love to all... Chris

I just listened to John's demo of Real Love again. It just so happens that Paul's For Noone was right under it. Playing a hunch, I'm listening to it now. I think whoever reads this thread should do the same thing I did. I can actually hear the similarity in the music between the two songs...I'm in shock... I wasn't expecting this, but I'm NOT surprised... For those who are going to say, so what. They wrote alot of songs together... Yeah, but John hasn't recorded ANYTHING as haunting as that song since before Paul died. Please, if I'm wrong correct me. I'm not an expert on John's music. Sooo, Eggy, what do you think Love to all... A STILL shocked... Chris
