Great presentation I'mgonnaopenmymind. ;D I am not completely sold on Harrison getting the credits for The Fool on the Hill although I remained openminded. It sounds to me like Neil Aspinall on that song and Back in the USSR sounds like Faul. Anyone else agree? Agree 100% with DH

I just listened to "Fool on the Hill" again, I always thought it was Faul just because it was one of "Faul's songs" but I never actually thought it sounded like Paul or Faul......that's because it's George! It's definitely George, I can hear it really well, especially at the start: "Day after day..." I can't believe I didn't hear it earlier!

...I still say it sounds like the voice on 'When I'm Sixty Four', 'Lovely Rita' and 'Fixing A Hole' which is Neil Aspinall.

MNS: you are new to the forum. Neil replaced George during a show (Ed Sullivan's). That's not Neil, that's Del Shannon, who was going to fill in for George (and did fill in during the rehearsal) if George's flu prevented him from performing that night.

You're such an ass. But you know what? You've convinced me.
You've convinced me that even trying to talk to you is a waste of my time.
Good bye.

In 'Beatles First US Visit' video you can see Neil in the backround a few times...
BTW, who IS Del Shannon?

Nope, that's definitely Neil Aspinall. Of course, he wasn't actually playing guitar in that picture, they just strapped a guitar on him so they could mark the positions the boys would stand in onstage. He only did this for rehearsal for the first Ed Sullivan appearance, also.

Yeah that's definitely Neil - why would they bother going to all of the trouble to get Del anyways?

So Del "commited suicide"! Another one to add to the body count of Beatles' related deaths?

During the 3rd listen I'm thinkin Why haven't I noticed that before? They sure pulled off some slick studio tricks that fooled everybody. I'm gonna have to add Fool on the Hill to my George-comp.CD now!

Well all I can say after listening to it again is that it is definitely NOT imitator Neil Aspinall singing that song. I must have been going on pure memory because I was WAY off. The voice in 'Fool On The Hill' sounds very different than on the other three songs I listened to, 'Lovely Rita', 'When I'm Sixty Four' and 'Fixing A Hole', which were all supposedly Neil. It's still hard to accept that it is George singing that song because I just couldn't picture him doing it. Plus I never knew he had that much range in his voice. I'm not 100% convinced but I remain open-minded. It's the best imitation out of all Paul's later songs in my opinion. But all of the imitations sound a lot like Paul and they are just a little different as to escape most people's notice. Amazing.

You guys are absolutely right; that is George Harrison singing 'Across the Universe' I closed my eyes while I listened to it and the second time through I could just picture it being George.
The beginning of Fool on a Hill sounds exactly like who I believe to be Paul and you guys believed to be Faul. One way or another, an 'AUL' definitely sang it.

OK I've been listening to Badfingers "day after day" which doesn't sound like the lead voice in their other songs, but i have concluded its not James Paul(Ever since i was kid i thought it was JP) A Side point to this being; JP's voice was always IMPROVING becoming more mature sounding . No wonder why "Yesterday" is the most played radio song ever. Other than She's Leaving home I don't hear any James Paul after 67. I'm interested to find any use of his voice in sgt. pepper. It wouldn't surprise me if there are a few overdubs of JP. Fool on the hill sounds like George, yet I still can't recognise Espinal's voice yet. ;D ;D KEEP LISTENING The answer lies in the recordings
