Okay, so none of what I'm going to show you in this thread is new, but I felt it had to be done. Not many people can see how Faul, through extensive surgery, altered himself to look like James Paul. This is a mini-timeline from the last days of James Paul McCartney to Faul's entry into the band, and the slow, subtle changes he had done through the late '60s. Most of these images were already avaliable on the site, but I just wanted to line them up in chronological order. For me, it clearly shows photographic proof of not only the man known as "Paul" getting plastic surgery, but plastic surgery to make himself look more like PAUL. If there was no Faul, why would he get surgery to make himself look more like... himself?
First things first, here's a right profile of James Paul McCartney, date unknown. Take a good look at his ear (this will become important later).
The Melody Maker Awards. Filmed September 9th (?) 1966. One of the last known photographs of James Paul McCartney.
One again, from the Melody Maker Awards, this time with James Paul looking in another direction. Get a good look, because you won't be seeing him again. The last known photograph of James Paul McCartney.
The photograph of William Sheppard from the White Album poster, which has been called "Paul in disguise." Date unknown. Note how it looks nothing like the Paul shot above.
William Sheppard, after accepting the role of Paul (but before having major plastic surgery), in a private photograph taken by Mal Evans on October 15th, 1966. Keep in mind this is just over a month from the Melody Maker awards.
A short time later, Bill/Faul is in Africa. Still no major plastic surgery, but look at the shape of the head and how it resembles the White Album photo.
Still in the Savannah, but notice Bill's ear, and how it's attached to his jawbone. If this is Paul, then why is his right ear attached to his jawbone?
Bill Sheppard returning from Kenya. Here we can see he's had preliminary work done on his left cheek and chin, but still looks far from Paul. Also notice that his face looks fuller than it did in the Savannah, due to underskin injections. The major surgery is yet to come...
December 20th, 1966 - Faul's first public appearance after first major surgery.
A few months later.... from the "Strawberry Fields Forever" promotional video.
Again, from Strawberry Fields. Notice Faul's ear, and compare it with the Savannah shot just months ago. It doesn't quite look like James Paul's, but it looks nothing like "Paul's" during the trip to Africa, or even when he was in his " disguise!"
Faul from the "Penny Lane" promotional video. This is included just to drive home the point of how Faul looked during these early months of 1967.
This is the photo of Faul during the "LSD" interview, and soon after another round of plastic surgery. Notice how Faul is losing his almost "middle eastern" look from Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane/Sgt. Pepper, and is starting to gain some of the babyface characteristics of James Paul. The most striking thing to me is the continued work on his chin, making it look more like James Paul's (compare this one with the Melody Maker shot, and "early Faul" ). Nonetheless, this shot looks about as awkward as the December 20th, 1966 one. After each interview, Faul seemed to settle into a more "normal" look for awhile...
Faul from "Magical Mystery Tour." After that last bit of surgery, Faul seems to look more youthful, closer to James Paul's age.
From the "Hello, Goodbye" video. Included just to show Faul's continual appearance after the surgery peformed before the LSD interview.
From the "Hey Jude" performance. Around this time, Faul begins to look more like we know him today, and although more plastic surgeries are done, I'm going to end it here, because I feel my point has been made.
All of this was lined up in the Reference Documentation and in various other places on the forum, but since few newer people take the time to look at it all, I just decided to lay it all out for them to see. I apologize for being redundant. To me, it's obvious. James Paul McCartney vanished in early September, 1966, and the "Paul" that emerged in the middle of October looked drastically different. There's just no way around this. When preparing this post, all lingering doubts I had about PID washed away... kind of sad, really.
Rest in peace, James Paul.
