& on a bit of a lighter note, one of the reasons I think that certain people are so attracted to the beatles in general is because all of the beatles' (& others') poetic images,sounds & songs of mythology are referring to something inside of all of us.   The first is from Paris show in 1964; the second is from Toulouse show in 1968; they seem two differents women to me. Those are for you ZioMarco:   Sylvie's and Fylvie's faces are PERFECTLY equalized as vertical dimension. Do you know "I Camaleonti"? Me...yes and "in person" I am cm 1.80 tall and the man on Fylvie's left is cm 175 tall So Ringo Starr could be cm 185 and Mal Evans cm 225 Fantastic! Yes that was Fylvie...FOR SURE! When i was watching this scene, my jaw dropped--it's almost as if the actual drama between the two is finally exposed--- ? but then again, maybe it's just a weird cooincidence.........  Another weird coincidence is that just before he arrives at the chiswick house & can't get in, he's wandering the streets disillusioned (perhaps like Paul was found in France) If you watch the film, you'll quickly note how the main character is moving through time at an accelerated rate. It starts in summer and he ends up in the fall @ the chiswick house. Very strange ending, by the way. What was the point of that film in the first place? Who wrote the script? That house is in numerous strange films, brahm stokers Dracula being one of them. also the main part "the swimmer" was filmed in Westport Connecticut, another mysterious location. Here are some freaky films from there-- The rocky horror picture show The step-ford wives house of a thousand corpses the swimmer last house on the left (a bit disturbing) Time of peril The man in the Grey flannel suit One last film reference in in Micheal Moore's "Sicko" I was surprised enough that the Beatles were even mentioned in it, but they are. Either way, at one point in the film he shows an example of how the Pharmaceutical Co.s & Hospitals in The States treat their patients. They are known for giving patients cab vouchers immediately after surgery, while they are still under anesthesia..... forcing them into cabs who take them to other treatment centers. Once the cab arrives at the destination, they are dumped on the street, most of them being completely disillusioned at the time, having no idea where they are, end up wandering around, sometimes in the street. The video is shocking. The woman is left wandering around----scary. I couldn't help but think about how Paul was found wandering around France. Realizing that the Pharmaceutical Co. are hand in hand with the powers that control the United states, what happened to Paul stinks of this American skulduggery. So back to the question, why was what happened between Paul & Sylvie so important? Why was Paul found in France wandering the street? Was he brainwashed? Was the government concerned about their relationship because of the effect it might have on the American & French public at the time ? (Considering they were not allies, to put it nicely) I don't know, I'm probably way off base, I just wanted to bring this thread back to it's roots. |

When they realized that they were, in effect, being used by the institution to promote anarchy & destruction, they conveyed a message imporing the need for love, peace & unity in the world, as the only means of overthrowing the nasties, (or meanies), leaving clues in many of their songs/interviews etc, such as 'choking beatles' (operation artichoke), blue jay way, (operation bluebird), & countless other MK-ULTRA references as to what was going on., I urge everyone who is interested in the true history of the Beatles to get hold of a book by Bob Gruen, called "Listen to these pictures", the author was a close personal friend of John's & a series of photos were strategically created to convey messages to the public., there is no text only photos, & an abundance of clues as to what John & no doubt the others, including I suspect Yoko, were subjected to. One black & white photo is of a news conference, the subjects are seated behind a large shiny table, with strategically placed objects on it, that, when viewed in the reflection of the table's surface, appear as mind control paraphenalia, there is a pair of electrodes & other items. The book's content is exceptionally well done, there are also many references to hands, & UFO's. It is widely known that John believed he had witnessed flying saucers flying over his apartment in NY. One of the CIA's favourite mind control methods of that particular era, was to implant in the brains of it's mind-control subjects, the concept that they had been abducted by aliens, had experienced telepathic communication from them, or had interacted with them in some way., this allowed the abusers a safety net in the event of the subject remembering too many details of the experience, they would then (hopefully) associate it with UFO contact, & be deemed either a severe drug user or a total nut. When a genuinely honest & caring individual is slain for attempting to (God Forbid), make the world a better place, the MASS effect on the human psyche is experienced by MILLIONS WORLDWIDE., people genuinely GRIEVED for Diana, JFK, John Lennon, Martin Luther King & others, the SAME people that didn't care for the look of them when they were alive, & turned off the t.v when they started waffling on chat shows.. WHY? because human nature is fundamentally GOOD, despite what a twisted minority in control of the purse strings & the negative media would have us believe., I think it is for this very reason, as much as their music, that people loved & will always love the Beatles., ie; The TRUE Beatles.. So I watched "the Yellow submarine" again last night, and happened to notice a few particular images.
There is a famous picture of a girl riding a skeletal horse- where that image came from who know---
Either way, it's during the "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" interlude about half way through the film.
The girl riding the horse is in color this time & bears a striking resemblance to Sylvie with short hair & a blue dress.
i always had a notion that the song was about her & Paul, this just confirmed it.
It almost even sounds like there is a French accent to the chorus, (you'd have to be french to hear it)
Also, is her being in the sky with diamonds referring to her being in heaven, or perhaps dying on while tripping on acid? I don't know, just a thought.
And are the diamonds in the sky another allusion to the concept that the earth is actually a hollow diamond sphere that the light from the sun refracts through like a prism creating the wide spectrum of colors to be visible to the naked eye?
after all, everything we see and touch are just electrical impulses interpreted by our brain, right?
I've been into quantum physics for awhile now, and my teachers along with most books explain that what we define as matter is actually quite empty at it's most subatomic level.
this is just my attempt at trying to decode some of the beatles cryptics- and why what happened involving Sylvie is so important in the matter.

So i saw a special on TV about the beatles recently & at one point, circa 1967 i think, John is seen wearing the white suite with a red rose from the "your mother should know" & "cette lettre la" videos in public while disembarking a plane, with a little matching white French cap to boot. curious.......obviously john played a major roll in the entire Sylvie-Paul thing. Even some of his music suggests that he was some sort of mediator in the event (Like "she loves you" specifically) , as best friends sometimes end up doing for eachother. After their deaths he was probably forced/instructed not to speak of the event, knowing how john is, he probably responded with that suit. I can easily see him saying that if he is hasn't got the right to speak his mind anymore, he at least has the right to dress his mind.....right? or something to that effect... Were all well aware that no-one could really control John, the harder they tried, the more john would come up with new and inventive schemes to out-wit them. It's not like his outfit was a fashion conscious trend or anything.......... |

anyone figure out what the old man in the rocking chair represents in the "Quand tu est la" video with all the black & white imagery.
It's another one of her songs that was stolen and translated into the american-pop scene, not to my surprise.
She was a musical genius, and a real down to earth no frills type gal, a tom-boy, you know.
I can relate to that.

Actually, I recently read that Paul is scheduled to perform with Kyle Minogue on new years eve in ireland.
The funny part about that--- Kyle was the one who originally took the "le locamotion" by Sylvie Vartan and translated it to the american pop scene. Actually, the first time I heard it (I was in pre-school) was her rendition, to be quite honest most people have no clue it was originally a French song. It also sky rocketed kyle into the music scene, Sylvie's song single handedly put her on the map. It just goes to show that sylvie had a great ear for music that got the people going, much like her lover.

Sylvie Vartan Biography
Sylvie Vartan was born as a daughter of Georges Vartan, a Bulgarian of Armenian descent. He worked as an attaché at the French embassy in Sofia. Her mother Illona was Hungarian.[4] In September 1944, when the Soviet Army occupied Bulgaria, the Vartan family house was nationalized and they moved to Sofia.[4] In 1952, Dako Dakovski, a film director and father Georges' friend, offered Sylvie a role of a schoolgirl in the movie "Pod igoto". The film was about Bulgarian rebels against the Turkish occupation. Being a part of the film had a lasting impression on her and made her dream to become an entertainer.[4]
The promiscuity and privations of the postwar Bulgaria made the family emigrate to Paris in December 1952.[4] Their first place of stay was the Lion d'argent hotel close to Les Halles area, where father Georges found a job. The family stayed in a single room of the Angleterre hotel for the following four years. Young Sylvie had to work very hard to keep up with the school and to assimilate with her schoolmates. She learned French in two years.In 1960 her family moved to an apartment in Michel Bizot Avenue.[4] By the example of her music producer brother Eddie Vartan, teenage Sylvie's main interest was music. The most influential genres were jazz and, out of her strict high school's spite, rock'n'roll. Her favourites included Brenda Lee, Bill Haley and Elvis Presley.

In 1961 Eddie offered Sylvie to record the song "Panne d'essence" with the French rocker Frankie Jordan. The EP by Decca Records was a surprise hit.[4] Although she was not credited on the sleeve, "Panne d'essence" provided Vartan her first appearance on the French Broadcasting Television. The journalists gave her a nickname La lycéenne du twist.[4] After the Twisting Schoolgirl had finished the Victor Hugo High School, she was free to sign a contract with Decca Records to start recording her own EP. By the beginning of December, 1961 the EP with the title song "Quand le film est triste", covering Sue Thompson's "Sad movies" was out for sale.[4] This was yet another hit, that served her first concert in Paris Olympia hall on December 12, 1961. Quickly "Est-ce que tu le sais?", her version of What’d I Say was released. Her second concert in Paris Olympia opened for Vince Taylor.[4] In July she toured France with Gilbert Bécaud. In Fall, 1962 she released her version of "The Loco-Motion" on EP and her first LP “Sylvie”. Her next big hit was "Tous mes copains", issued on EP in 1962.[4] A small part of a singer in the film “Un clair de lune à Maubeuge” was her first adult appearance in a movie.[3]

Later in 1963, after announcing their engagement over the radio, the young couple performed to an noisy audience of 200,000 at the La Nation Square of Paris.[3] At the end of the year, they travelled to Nashville to record an album with the Jordanaires. With the special treatment of vocalists, strings and brass sections in the true Nashville style, these recordings were a great commercial success in France.[3] The "Sylvie a Nashville" LP included the hits "La plus belle pour aller danser" and "Si je chante". Being accompanied by the movie “Cherchez l’idole”, the EP with "La plus belle pour aller danser" sold over a million copies in Japan.[4] In 1964 she opened for the Beatles at Paris Olympia.The commercial for the clothes “Renown” and a supporting role in the film "Patate" made her even more famous. The singer made numerous US TV appearances - "The Ed Sullivan Show", "Shindig", "Hullabaloo", and an international concert tour, including Canada, South America and Polynesia.[4] Only in Tokio she gave 13 concerts in 12 days.[4]

The scene was not needed anyway; it might have revealed to us all that poor James Paul was simply NOT strong in the acting department, as he was in the bass playing/song writing department. I don't know what posessed him to create this pretty pop jam but it's happy. String section enters toward the end. Nice piano groove on/jam/improv. I was expecting a modulation out of the People's Key (C major) to somewhere spacey and far out, like Gb or B or something, but no, at the end, I realized, no, it doesn't need a modulation. But now, back to the little cut scene from Help! It was probably in Mal's Golden Suitcase. And that has disappeared to the Four Winds. So, we won't be seeing that scene. Ever. We must get over it.
