Don't know if this has been mentioned - but wasn't Layla actually dedicated to George Harrison's wife Patty(?) whom Eric was madly in love with and later went on to marry? (?) = Boyd And yes, it was. The song "Why Does Love Have To Be So Hard" was also about how he felt for her. Who knows? Maybe Eric disappeared after George got mad and shot him.

ah yes Patti Boyd. Thanks bm! The same thought occured to me, or similar. Re Gibson 330 versus Strat I have just been looking at several photos of Eric playing a Telecaster with Yardbirds. Here's one.

Hey thanks for posting those pics and links, bxv. I was looking for a good front shot of Eric. Here's some fades: Match. Match. Hmm.

This is the "real mc coy", all the others are NOT Eric Clapton. All the stories of drug addiction and alcohol abuse were just a cover for his ever changing appearance. IMO.

Similarly, and a slightly O/T, but in the broad sense, on-topic.
A month ago I saw Arlen Spector on tv. Bald, and appearing to be in bad shape. The FOX reporter even made a big deal of how people said, "He doesn't even look like te same man....", and I frankly thought so too, though most all of us have seen someimte in our life first hand how quickly cancer treatment can degrade a person's appearance. Trouble is, his forehead and eyes looked very different to me from his current state, and photos they showed from even a year ago.
In the interview, they asked him why he did not retire or take off some time to relax, after nearly dying (!?) from cancer.
He said, "The work must continue......"
? I hear that expression sometimes.........
And then there's Eric Rudolph. The photos and footage the man they arrested, and the man that disappeared in the 90's into western North Carolina, long before I ever saw 60IF, caused me to to think to myself, "That's not the same guy......."
Feric Foodolf?
Feric and Farlan, I am not kidding. Though I enjoy using a mock tone sometimes, that's just window dressing.
There was something about both of these guys on the news reports.......I dunno........
So, as far as Feric Flapton----I don't see it as much as I see the two guys I just mentioned, but I can't totally rule it out.
I see JP, and to a large degree Sylvie, yes, looking different.
I have not yet been able to see Doris/Foris,. but, the associations betwen her young and old may be too strong in my head to overrule.

Somewhat different angles but a good match. I'm sticking to what I said before, Eric was replaced after Derek and the Dominoes. Just listen to the guitar/vocal ability after the Dominoes era. Based on facial proportions Eric's face is very consistent up until 1972/73. After 1973 the chin/jaw grows and is disguised with beard and the ears slide down until the bottoms are level with the mouth not the nose. The replacement Eric's eye/nose/mouth proportions are almost dead on. The top of his cranium has a smaller, less squared shape than Eric.

I see what you mean! I had to have another look. The guy on the left looks like Harry H Corbett from Steptoe & Son! Look at the gap between young Erics eyebrows compared to Feric's, and the shape of eyebrows, and those worry lines. Different mouth and chin. Another cuckoo in the nest IMO.

There's a larger version.. bxv, are you suggesting that the two pics in your last post are two different guys? Perhaps I've misunderstood.. Eric often had a scowl in Yardbirds pics.. I read somewhere that he registered his unhappiness with the musical direction of the group by knitting his brows in many pics... I have a pile of other fades coming and vintage pics as well.

It's hard to be 100% certain, but yes I think it's two different people. And I agree about the scowl, I don't think I've seen a Yardbirds photo (or any other) of Eric smiling. He looks like a street hoodlum in most.

The song Layla was released in 1970, supposedly written about Pattie Boyd by the real Eric Clapton. If the hypothesis here is that Clapton was replaced around 1972-73 or thereafter, then you would have to explain Pattie leaving George in 1974 for Clapton and then later marrying him in 1979. So she married his double? It is a possible scenario that either she loved Eric's replacement and not Eric(which would explain hooking up with him later on in 1974) or that the song Layla wasn't really written about Pattie Boyd after all.

That may be correct. I don't know the reasons for the replacement, and the relationship between Boyd and Eric's double may have been a cover, for continuity's sake. Patti was probably aware of the whole Beatles scenario, so maybe she was 'hired' so to speak. Pure speculation....

Well, is the guy above Eric Clapton? If yes the case is close because irises don't match at all with the guy below: Case closed? (Compare the ears too in other photos )
